Am the only one who doesn't 'feel' "The Fame" Anymore?

tbh I'm not super fond of it as an album. It's a good debut with some amazing tracks but a lot of meh-okay songs. I would rank Gaga's albums BTW > TFM/ARTPOP > TF.

I don't like the songs as much as the ones on the other album, but it's still such a bop for me! Whenever one of TF songs come on I usually go to skip it, but then I decide "Nah, I'll let it play," and end up singing along just as happily as I did when it first came out. :monsterpaw:

You're not alone. I haven't listened to more than Just Dance, Poker Face, LoveGame, and Paparazzi in probably two years.

Which is bad considering a lot of us are bored of the album already. The fame and fame monster took years to get bored of. Born this way still sounds fresh but ARTPOP for me and a lot of other people sounds dated and just boring.

Thats honestly just because it underperformed. In terms of musical content and everything its literally on the same level as The Fame. Had it performed better there would be something to hold onto but with pop music its sometimes as much about cultural acknowledgement as it is the music especially with shallow pop albums like ARTPOP and The Fame. So without the cultural acknowledgement its just you at home listening to G.U.Y. and thats not necessarily going to work for everyone. Some people need other peoples approval to continue to enjoy an album like ARTPOP.

That's not really true. I like her songs Out of Control and Real Cool for years and I enjoy them just the same. When it came out, I ADORED MANiCURE, MJH and all the other tracks except for Dope. Now I can't listen to them because even though I hear the songs, I feel bored and all I perceive is noise

Yeah but songs like Out of Control are unreleased tracks that are accepted by a majority of people particularly people that might not even like Lady Gaga anymore. It falls under the umbrella of her peak and technically so does Reel Cool since its originally from that era. ARTPOP doesn't have that kind of cultural acknowledgement for a variety of reasons, and while its probably her weakest pop effort imo, I think its an album that appeals to the same people that like all that **** from 2008/2009. But a shallow album like ARTPOP isn't going to hold up when its not as widely revered. The Fame really doesn't and probably shouldn't hold up either, but it only does because it was a phenom. A wide range of people formed an attachment to it, its her debut, and it was critically accepted. Its socially acceptable to like The Fame. Its not necessarily socially acceptable to like ARTPOP. I feel the success and longevity of a commercial pop album does somewhat rely on social acceptability. Which provides a possible a--lysis for why some people such as yourself could've liked portions of the album so much and have grown to no longer appreciate it.

Not that im saying people don't have their own point of view (even though I really don't think many pop stans do tbh). I just created a theory.

It's an old album and especially by dance-pop standards. Dance-pop music often ages like old milk so I think The Fame has held up pretty well. It's still her most clever album lyrically and conceptually, and it's still enjoyable but obviously not as much as it was when it came out. I think the only Gaga music we have so far that will still sound excellent in 20 years is The Fame Monster, and a few songs from Born This Way.

Paparazzi will always be an incredible and timeless pop song as well.

I wouldn't say ARTPOP is on the same level as The Fame, since it's not touching it conceptually and it has a few painfully mediocre songs, but you're right that when it comes to shallow dance-pop albums like these the cultural impact is really important. Born This Way, for example, is probably one of the least cool albums of the last decade, but because it's an album with real substance, beauty, and emotion I still like it and listen to it on my own, even if I would never play it around friends. An album like ARTPOP feels decidedly pointless when it gets such a mediocre reception and when no one plays it or cares that it exists. Why bother making songs like "G.U.Y." or "MANiCURE" if they're not going to be popular?

What I bolded is actually exactly what i've been saying right now. Thank you.

The thing is, I think The Fame has an equal amount of painfully mediocre songs. But stronger singles. I think ARTPOPs filler is actually stronger than The Fame's filler, songs like Sex Dreams and Do What U Want may seem pointless without popularity but I still think they're stronger pop efforts than Money Honey and I Like It Rough. But thats my opinion.

Conceptually though yes, ARTPOP doesn't touch The Fame.

The Fame's single choices were much stronger than those on ARTPOP. I personally feel LG should've rode the wave of TF for another year and gave us TFM in 2010.

ARTPOP really didn't age well to me. Not saying I don't listen to it but it sounds a bit burned out. The single choices just didn't stick and she was releasing too many promo singles. Aura, Venus, DWUW, Applause is how it should've worked to me.
