"Charli XCX brought all the energy to the 2015 MTV Movie Awards (Not really Tinashe brought the energy) with her performances of “Famous” and “Drop That Kitty.”

She kicked off the musical number with undisputed banger “Famous.” Dressed in zebra-print jumpsuit and some intensely awesome metallic platform heels, Charli rocked out with a super-sized inflatable guitar.

If that wasn’t enough to have you dancing, Charli’s infectious stage presence was guaranteed to have you on your feet. And because one song from her isn’t enough, Ty Dolla $ign and Tinashe joined her onstage to perform “Drop That Kitty.”

The suggestive song was every bit as provocative as we expected it to be, complete with backup dancers dressed as pink cats."

So in under a minute Tinashe stole the show with her stage presence, twenty second chorus, being smoking hot, and that sick choreo. Wow she should've got her own full performance  :legend:

Miranda Sings

Famous is such a bop. I was kind of sad to see that Charli didn't even try for those high notes in the chorus, but it was still good. Drop That Kitty sounds fun. Tinashe looked and sounded fantastic. Those dancers looked ridiculous tho :lmao:

wow Tinashe went IN for the kill

I hope she's willing to hustle hard like Gaga did back in 2008/9. I know she's on tour (and has been for a while) but there was a time Gaga did promo during the day, an opening set for NKOTB/PCD and then a club show at night, and do it all over again the next day. Some newer artists (not saying Tinashe is doing it) take the little bit of hype they have and think they can run with it, but today's market is so over-crowed you can't do that. It's full-on promo/exposure/hustle/exhaustion the first couple of years just to establish yourself and I hope she and whoever manages her get that. You see some newcomers go on club dates and the second they book a late night show or a talk show they are suddenly to big to turn up for the smaller press junkets/promo. I hope that doesn't happen with Tinashe because with the right amount of push behind her, she could really become a huge mainstream star. I hope she keeps on killing it every single performance and continues a heavy promotour. Also, her art direction/styling could be a little bit more defined. She has a lot of "looks" now and I wish she'd stick to more of the same thing for now, so that the general public can associate her image with her name. But props to her. Huge fan here.

Amazingly said, fantastic wording :legend: I agree completely, Tinashe has the talent to be selling out arenas, she is incredible. She writes all her music, produces a lot of it from her damn bed room, can out dance about anyone in the industry, is a great vocalist, is extremely creative... She is the whole package! She deserves to be huge and I hope her management has big things planned for her. She has been touring small venues since last fall, I think she will hustle her way to the top where she deserves to be. She will tour with Nicki this summer, she's going to blow up I know she is. Kayne tweeted the AHOD video link the other day and said 'I really like this video...' she's gonna start getting the recognition she deserves. Gosh shes incredible, she manages to wow me almost every performance. When I saw her in concert in December I was literally blown away, nobody made me feel that way after seeming them live since the first time I saw Gaga in 2009. Huge fan too! I can't wait to watch her grow even more and her success to fall into place. She was born to be a star!

Yeah I agree, it was annoying and not enjoyable at all. Drop That Kitty should of got a full performance in replace of that. Don't get me wrong I like Charli, but meh to that performance

Thank you! I know about her tour, I just saw her live :teehee:

And while I LOVE her mixtape that just came out, I hope she sticks with her album for a while. A re-release could even do her some good in the fall, with more 2 On/AHOD type of bangers. I love her ballads/mid-tempos, and she has the voice for it, but her ability to slay heavy choreo and sound great over the backing track is just SO good they need to emphasise it every chance they get. While I love the song, I think Pretend was not the type of follow-up that she needed after 2 On really got some heat going for her. Range is important, but in Tinashe's case I think it's good to keep some of her vocal power up her sleeve just a little longer. She deserves a big budget from the record label, her potential is incredible.

Charli physically cannot hit that high F naturally

2 On really wasn't her style though. Listen to all her work before Aquarius and Pretend or Feels Like Vegas is more Tinashe than songs like AHOD and 2 On. I don't think the album would've been nearly as good if she had limited herself to disposable DJ Mustard beats

I am very aware of that, but it is the song that gave her the big push, isn't it? It probably is a "disposable" sound but so are a lot of first album musical directions. It's okay, she can re-invent 2 On or AHOD with a fresher beat/mix 5 years down the line if she's doing arena tours. A lot of productions sound outdated, but so far none of her up-tempo's are that bad they couldn't be revamped on tour or something. When stripped to lyrics and melody, they're fine and actually AHOD sounds quite timeless to me in it's melody.

Don't get me wrong, I love chill Tinashe on Amethyst, I love throwback Tinashe on This Feeling, but that's not what it's about for her right now. Her team and her are clearly working towards a mainstream breakthrough and I feel like her star quality and talent really "pop" when she's doing the current sounding up-tempo smashes. There's no new pop/R&B star that dances and sings at the same time as well as her right now. And I don't want her to fade into R&B-hopeful galaxy. She could get to Rihanna levels of recognition and success, and as much as I love Ciara, that's not what I want for her. Ciara is seriously gifted, but bad management/choices got her to where she is now, a local act. Her music is cute and it bops but it ain't no general public slayage anymore.

Tinashe deserves a big career, and sometimes the groundwork for that might deviate from the work you want to be doing down the line. It doesn't mean that she has to "sell her soul" or change who she is, it's just a current thing and she's clearly enjoying/slaying while doing it so...

Slay me and the general public Tinashe!
