Hexxx 2,244
No. Nothing wouldve changed. If you like the music, you'll buy it. If not, then don't.I think Madge should have dropped the album as SOON as it leaked. I think AP and RH's critical reception was accurate. Madonna's not a demon. She's actually a loving person. She said gaga is talented and is a great singer. These two fan bases have got to stop bashing one another and leave the past behind. #LivingForLove #WeCouldWecouldBelongTogether Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko
Phoenix 17,395
There would probably be a collab, a song or a live performance. But I'm glad Gaga hasn't done anything with her, no matter how much I respect her Previous work I still see her as a fake person. 💎
Dominic 11,922
I think it was obvious Madonna was bringing to light as much as possible the BTW/EY comparisons that everyone was commenting on. I think it was a clear way to have a dig at her because she did feel threatened. However I also think that was it, a one time thing and I think Madonna realised its best not to add fuel to the fire because she got a lot of backlash from it as well and isolated a lot of Madonster fans. It Was a long time ago now, Madonna has always been gracious since towards Gaga and I don't understand why Monsters perpetuate this fued; it only makes us and Gaga look pathetic and immature. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
Tresor 1,649
the reason i even bothered to look up MDNA or Rebel Heart is fueled by the controversy with BTW. Even bad publicity is good publicity and Madonna is the first person to know that really.
AbuHassan1992 766
Lol, I guess Gaga wouldn't ignore Madonna, you know, if M wouldn't have performed the mash-up on the MDNA tour. I guess that's what hurt Gaga the most. MY world would definetely be a better place she got paid every time she sang it on the tour though
Celina 118
Looking back, I think her intentions were just to use the situation for publicity & probably to be humorous, but it's unsurprising that her comments & the mashup came with some (what I'd like to see as) unintended consequences. I understand why they were taken the way that they were, and they undeniably worsened the rift between the two fan bases & led to some hurt feelings on Gaga's part, so I do think things would have been a lot different had she responded to BTW differently. Not necessarily things that have to do with either artist's recent sales or w/e, but just attitudes. And who knows, maybe we would have a collab. I certainly don't think Gaga would have turned her down had she not been offended (if the story about Madonna inviting her to perform is true). I have to admit that I didn't appreciate the recent comment about BTW being a blatant rip-off of EY when, lbr, they have one not-so-unique feature in common, but I like that she continues to point out that she has no hard feelings toward Gaga (and did in that same comment). I think that's something that both fan bases tend to ignore.
DeleteMyAccount 11,881
"No, i don't think she's copying me, cause she's she and i'm me" - in the same interview. "I actually like her, i think she's very talented" - Graham. About the mash up, it was meant to be comedic, not an attack. Maybe if Gaga was an actual Madonna fan like she always stated she would have picked up on her unique sense of humor, Madonna was always like this. Back in the 80s when she was accused of copying MJ, she did the exact same thing. its a commentary on the media presented in a humoristic manner, its irony, its artistic expression. But of course, according to Gaga daily logic, a woman who devoted a big porrtion of her life as an equal rights activist before it was hip and popular to do so, a woman who helps building education in economically weak countries is evil because she didn't sugar coat her opinion on a specific situation that happened to involve your precious mommy fave. It doesn't matter though. We all know and saw all the hatred towards Gaga after that Madonna interview. That's what matters the most. Madonna could have approached this in a much more "comedic" way, but she choose not to. There were elements of "She's Not Me" in her mashup at the MDNA Tour which made this more than a joke. Whispering 18,865
she got paid every time she sang it on the tour thoughNo, she didn't. A live performance in concert of a cover song does not involve royalty payments to the original artist or songwriter.Gaga received no money from Madonna's mash up. Alcina Dimitrescu 1,156
Madonna was nice and always commented how gaga was good and reminded her of her young self in the good way. She never went out of her way to talk about Gaga, she kept getting asked. And she didnt screw herself, the one called copycat was Gaga and the one who got all pressed in the BTWB and Howard Stern was Gaga. The RH "flop" doesnt have anything to do with Gaga, it has to do with Madonna being old. If the "hordes" of fans she lost for not "supporting" Gaga mattered, Gaga wouldnt have flopped with ARTPOP. Whispering 18,865
no fernando garibay received royalties.. he said it himself read your sources hunty Only through ASCAP, that licenses music venues. It is the same amount of money that a bunch of artists will get, when their music is played before a show starts or between sets. The amount of money an artist or songwriter receives from these types of performances is a very small amount. Madonna didn't pay out any money to use Gaga's song in her little mashup. elijahfan 26,197
And actually MDNA&Rebel Heart would sell EVEN less if Madonna didn't get some attention with the "reductive" thingExactly. Madonna knows that controversy sells, so when she saw how much people cared what she had to say about Gaga, she kept dragging the issue for months, singing a mash-up of EY/BTW at her MDNA Tour for instance. If people can't stop asking her stuff about Gaga now, she can only blame herself. As for comparing this issue with what she did with Hung Up, it's basically 2 different things. Hung Up officially uses an ABBA sample, which has been publicized pretty heavily back then - BTW just didn't sample EY, the songs merely have a similar tone and general feel, but let's not reopen the wounds tbh.........
