Bio 23,538
Not true. At all. Monsters were and are STANNING for Do What U Want and So Happy I Could Die which are both R&B. Then when Gaga covered What's Up? that thread generated hundreds of replies. It was huge. People loved it. People are here for RockGa. JazzGa? Not so much. But your wrong in saying they're only open to pop. Of course they wouldn't be here for Reggae Those are still pop songs with R&B elements. I think OP is talking about real changes like the Cheek to Cheek album or if she did a death metal album.
Mariann 301
Because it's cool to listen to pop. I always had a "weird" music taste at high school. I don't deny that sometimes I wished I could just blend in.
Tropico 4,145
Actually not really. I see so many Monsters put down DJWS and Do What U Want. I think people need to remember LG's fans are not all kids and tweens into whatever is popular, some of us like music like Adele and Sam Smith make, the adult contemporary, so Monsters on here should respect the other Monsters who like the Jazz and want to see GaGa explore other genres than what is considered "socially or monster favorable". Can't always do what's popular or do things to be popular, doing that doesn't allow for boundaries to be broken or ideas or perceptions to be changed. Some people think music is just music, but its more than that. Music has the power to break boundaries, a lot of pop music kids listen to follows suit and doesn't break boundaries at all. I'm here for the music that breaks boundaries and barriers and tests a person's limits and opens them up to a new way of thinking or seeing or hearing music. And that can change the audience's perception of what a "popstar" is, like LG initially did when she burst on the scene. So..... http://gagadaily.com/uploads/default_kissga.gifhttp://gagadaily.com/uploads/default_queenga2.gif Your joking? DWUW is LOVED in this fanbase. And God knows that SHICD is praised to high heavens. And in case you haven't noticed, a great portion of this fanbase listen to Lana Del Rey who's an alternative artist. There was ince a vote and Lana - not a pop star, but Lana - was voted as GGD's second favorite artist. And Monsters LOVE Starstruck and Paper Gangsta. It would be nice if you stopped making assumptions on this fanbase based of one thread you made. Also, pop music isn't only listened to by kids. That's what we call stereotyping. And I cannot disagree more that pop music breaks boundaries. Look at Erotica by Madonna. Look at Thriller by Michael Jackson. Look at Born This Way by Lady Gaga. All pop. All boundary pushing. ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

If Mariah or Beyonce had sung the song, most people wouldn't say it's pop. Just because any song by Mariah is associated with R&B. Just like how any song by Gaga is associated with pop even if it's not. What exactly is a "real change" anyway? ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

moonboywow 3,136
Well there are usually more monsters against gaga making music that isn't dance music. Do you really want her to make dance music forever? Wouldn't you rather see her less stressed and free? I mean...the "pop" formula is so boring now. Step 1. Write and record repetitive dance song Step 2. Learn the choreographyStep 3. Make video that has some shots of the choreo.Don't you want her to just walk on the stage and just let go? She's a lot more fun to watch imo when she's being herself and not focusing on what dance move comes next.

It won the latest poll on here on what was the favorite song off of ARTPOP.Fans disagree over producers, which has nothing to do with whether they like Pop or not. Many fans enjoyed the Jazz era. Adele and Sam Smith are Pop and R&B, not Adult Contemporary.Just because people thought the Reggae suggestion was out of nowhere, doesn't mean they just want Pop. ARTPOPchamp 292
I disagree I think pop does have its own distinct sound, to an extent. It has to be hooky and catchy, usually repetitive. By definition, Paparazzi is the only true pop song LG has made. She's even been quoted as saying "Paparazzi is the first real pop record I've ever made."She's also said, "Don't tell me what pop is, I KNOW what pop is." Wolf 1,328
Because monsters are not open to gaga experimenting her music style, and are afraid that another "Jewels 'N Drugs" may happen again. Y'all need to give a chance to other genres... Who knows what genre gaga will sound good tbh
Ladey Gagz 2,512
Gaga came out as pop and I became a fan of her because of her POP music. Pop is the genre that I enjoy, so I would want her to do pop. Isn't it logical sure she can do whatever she wants, but I wouldn't be really perched if it's not pop
giskardsb 12,565
Aerosmith for example makes pop music. Unfortunately true after they got sober and put the band back together after their breakup. "Permanent Vacation" was the start of wimp-o-smith. On the other hand, their early music was not pop. ( this is a later video of them playing an early song)

I'm 23 and not a 'tween' or a 'kid' as you would say. Respect works both ways and just because something is pop does not diminish it's quality. I would be open to Gaga taking on other genres however would I be as excited for a rock era as I would pop? No. This doesn't stop me appreciating music. Pop doesn't always have to mean mindless lyrics thrown over the top of some basic dance track, it can be intelligent in itself; Bad Romance.
