TimisaMonster 31,073
It's truly her ARTPOP era, so she's trying to get away from the "ex boyfriend song" formula songs and albums and actually just make fun basic pop music ย Stream my new single, ๐"Heartbeat"๐, on Spotify! RAMROD 104,212
Yes and No. She is already did since the first time. Signing with major lavel means big business. But she didn't need that much money, she was born with silver platter. Meaning she is doing this brcauae she love what she is doing. Shifting in genres are pretty much common anyway. Haroon 49,685
People are allowed to do different things Tastes change and develop She could be doing rap in the future, who knows It's not about whether she "needed" a change or not, it's about whether she WANTED to change or not, which is totally her decision If she didn't want to do country then why should she be forced to do something that she doesn't want to or enjoy? ย Doing "just fine" in a certain genre may not cut it for a person. If it doesn't then who are we to say that they should "be fine" in what they were doing before? It's her career, not ours. I don't really like the thought of someone automatically being labelled a sell-out just because they're doing something different to what they started with. It's not fair to put someone in a box and then put negative labels on them if they attempt to break out of that box.

No Angel 128
I mean, Country is just as big as Pop music. Like a user above said, Pop is kind of struggling in a way. You'd have to be crazy to think she wasn't going towards this direction considering Red had been her biggest pop attempt up until this. I think Red was a great way to push her into a different direction. It gave her a little lead way to work into it without having to dive into the genre completely, still having a little country feel to it. ย I mean, Gaga does different genres all the time with her records and she blends in well doing a lot of them. If Taylor wants to go a different direction with her sound, I respect that. There's nothing wrong with dipping your musical tastes in different places.. even if people think it's "basic pop." She's doing different stuff, so good for her.

Gagz 2,572
She's a sellout because she is changing her musical directions? Does that make Gaga a sellout for doing R&B? Jazz? :awkney:
ryhanna 3,507
I wouldn't say "sellout," but yes, she's definitely exploring genres such as pop. ย Why not though? She's allowed to make pop music if she wants to. I don't understand the idea that if an artist who formerly worked in a more "respectable" genre decides to make pop music then they've sold out. Maybe she just wants to make music that's more upbeat and pop.ย ย Besides, Taylor's been slowly moving towards pop since like, her second album. Songs like You Belong With Me can be considered pop as well as country, and Red was a mix of both genres. It's not like she was a conventionally country artist and decided to start singing pop out of nowhere.ย
Daydream 541
I don't mind that she's doing pop, but the award shows need to stop nominating her in country categories.
Jesse Pinkman 4,660
To me, Taylor has been making pop music for a while. We Are Never getting Back Together, I knew You Were Trouble, Love Story, You Belong With Me, etc. Of course some of thse songs are "country" influenced, but at the end of the day they are pop songs. She's finally decided to go all in and create a full, pop album. It's science, bitch

gagaisitalian 3,573
Can't she just do what she wants? She's an artist, she can make her own choices. If this is the direction she wants to go in, let her. ย
