Why does Same Love get more credit than Born This Way?

I didn't know a song could have a s-xual position preference...

Online I've noticed a lot of gay people outside of Gaga forums say they were 'born this way'. Was this already a common thing to say before BTW came out or did the the song popularise it?

Do you feel him sir?

I don't think that Same love gets more praise or recognition

Wiki doesn't represent what people think.

It as very little with the gender of the artist :smh:

It's because of where the song came out of: a genre that usually spits on homos-xualities face vs. a pop girl who never shuts the **** up about the gays chanting to an 80's/90's inspired song.

That's why he was seen as 'bold', 'courageous' and progressive. However, i think BTW got more attention praise, and it stood the test of time

it didn't even go top 10, it peaked at 11. BTW debuted at number one and still is the only song to top the hot 100 with the words gay, bi or lesbian in it.

There are other charts besides the hot 100 :flop:

It was #3 and #5 in Hip-Hop and Top 40

"America the brave still fears what we don't know
And 'God loves all his children' is somehow forgotten
But we paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago"

will always be better than lyrics like

"subway kid rejoice" and "don't be a drag just be a queen".

Miranda Sings

I have always wondered this. The song was very basic to me. I kind of liked it, but it wasn't the anthem that born this way was, yet it seems to get the credit for being an "inspiration." It was listed on Wikipedia as one of the first songs about lgbt rights to top the charts. Was it because it was by a rapper? Because I found the lyrics to be kind of weak, and they stirred up homophobic tropes.

That's because while Born This Way is a song about self-empowerment and expressing yourself (no pun intended), it's not directly about LGBT rights like Same Love is.
