Obama administration urges nationwide end to gay marriage bans

Whatever, I'm done with this, you all asked for a reason and I gave you one. This site honestly sucks in the fact that we're not allowed to not be gay and have an opinion against them that's rooted in religion. I've been nothing but kind tonight and I've gotten called stupid, intolerable, homophobic, and told to f*ck off. I'm not the intolerable one, you all are. I don't owe you all anything to get into an argument about my religion on a fricken forum.

It's not just about this site though, it's about life. Forgive me for feeling offended that someone in this thread has literally said that homos-xuals do not belong on this planet because we don't reproduce. Your religion tells you to be against a lot of dumb things but for some reason you've let them all go but still cling to banning equal rights for homos-xuals, and it's basically just unacceptable. Religion is not a valid argument when it comes to political things like this, it just isn't.

but havent people always been homophobic?  & more prone to be homophobic than racist? where are you getting this information from?? did you not just see what happened in fergueson? did you not see what happened to trayvon martin? and the many more cases that havent been put under the belt?

yes gay people are out here dying. but 99% of the gay people that are dying are doing it themselves AKA suicide. nobody out here killing gay people because they are gay. gay people out here killing themselves because they cant handle the fact that some people just dont see eye to eye with that they think is right.

there are no laws in the united states that allow people to be racists or even be homophobic. & that whole thing you said about 13 years.. um no where ave u heard any of that happened to a gay person.... please stop making deaths up....

I've been bounced from foster home to foster home because of the fact that I'm gay. I've had a foster parent literally spit in my face and tell me "If I could get away with it I would murder your sorry ******* ass" not to imply that you're opinion isn't respected and valued but there are people out there that make it seem like life just isn't worth living. I have cut scars down to the bone from people degrading the very being that I am just because I'm gay. You say no one is killing gay people but in reality they kinda are. Life is hard for us. I lived in a park for 2 weeks sleeping under a childrens slide because my biological parents kicked me out of the house. What the hell was I supposed to think at 14 years old. I felt unloved and unwanted from the very people that claimed that they "loved" me.

So when you say we're not getting murdered we kinda are because of the violent and hateful acts that drove gays to suicide.

You sound very ignorant and you clearly don't know what are you talking about, it's not a matter of "belief", it's a matter of law and personal legal protection.

The marriage between gay people is for legal protection in first, not religious or related to any kind of beliefs, if a member of a gay couple die, as a human being has THE CIVIL and HUMAN RIGHT to have the possibility to left his money or properties to his partner, if he needs medical assistance the partner needs to have the possibility to visit him in Hospital as familiar member, there are a lot of gay people that don't have a family to support them in those situations.

This is why gay people want and need the LEGAL marriage, they are citizens that pay the taxes like the others, it's their right have it.

YES. I had gotten jumped a few years back walking home from work and my partner wasn't allowed to visit me in the hospital even though we're basically common law. It's sad that we need a piece of paper for him to be able to visit in those situations but that's just how it was, now I'm glad to know that now he can when they made same s-x marriage legal here.

My thought is if someone wants to believe being gay is "wrong," fine.
I have s-xual interests and a relationship dynamic that I know even a lot of relatively open-minded people would deem "wrong," yet I know what I do and am interested in is very much a natural part of myself the way being bis-xual is a natural part of myself.

However, if your thoughts cause you to vote against equality, you need to have a seat and understand your morals shouldn't get to control things that don't hurt you or anyone else.

So the only way TEANUS' opinion would bother me enough to bring out my teeth (in a constructive conversation sort of way) is if he is against gay marriage AND puts his thoughts into actions by fighting against equality.

I mean, it's like saying "I think black people are great! I just don't think they should be able to drink from the same drinking fountain as me. Why are you all mad? I literally said I LIKE black people! You must be whiteaphobic if you're intolerant of my beliefs! I'm friends with some black guys, but they just shouldn't have the same rights as I do- that's not hatred."
"Women are great! I love my mother. She just shouldn't be allowed to vote."
But unless you vote FOR or AGAINST gay marriage, ending segregation, women's suffrage, etc. your opinion on the issue is just words. TEANUS isn't a threat unless he actually does something with his opinions about gay marriage.

Opinions are fine. Actions are what either bring people equality or keep them in the dark. I'm interested in what people do on the other side of their computer screens when it comes to this issue.

I don't fight against gay rights, I just don't belive in them. If we had to vote in them in a national thing I just wouldn't vote. It's not going to effect me so, whatever. But i still don't have to agree with it

I spent the last half hour reading through this and from a gay man to you I am not offended at all that you are against gay marriage. Like you said, it's your opinion, I respect it. At the end of the day I do me and you do you because both of our beliefs aren't going to affect our lives. I'm sorry you got attacked so hard by people but (I'm sure by now) you have to understand the amount of passion that goes into beliefs. I respect that you voiced yourself.

See, there you go guys and gays. TEANUS has an opinion that is unpopular here, but him having it doesn't actually affect your life in any way. I think it's cringe-worthy and behind the times, but on the spectrum from Gay-Loving to Gay-Killing, TEANUS doesn't fall anywhere threatening. Moving on.

I just don't get the hate. I myself am not gay but I would be damned before I ever even THOUGHT about gay people being less worthy of whatever everybody else is in life. I really don't get it. Imagine in 20-30 years, everybody frowning upon and being embarrased by the fact that gay people couldn't marry. It's sick, and I don't understand it.

someone stop the world cuz I wanna get off

Of course. But there are some things I feel you should know. Sorry I'm late but hey I'm here now.

1) nobody here is attacking you because you're straight. You've said several times everybody is attacking you because you're a straight person on a forum with lots of gay people. That is simply not true. I am straight. I have made friends here that I hope to remain friends with for life.

2) 'straightophobic' is not a thing. And if it was it would be called 'heterophobic'. Again, nobody here is attacking you because you're not gay. I find it offensive that you feel like you need to create a term for yourself that paints you as a victim of society when you are clearly not. Stop trying to make yourself look special. Sexism, racism and homophobia are all words because they are very real things that happen every day from a casual to severe spectrum. But bringing up racism and s-xism completely derails what the point is.

3) you have your beliefs because your religion says you should. Fair enough. But do you follow every rule of your religion? Every single one? I think you should invest your time improving yourself so that you follow the rules of your own religion as precisely as possible instead of making a half attempt to preach here that you're a good guy but you just don't believe in marriage equality.

4) if I could have a small sum of money for Everytime somebody says 'I'm not RACIST/HOMOPHOBIC/SEXIST, I have BLACK/GAY/FEMALE friends or family' I would be so so so rich. Guess what? Having friends who are in a certain minority group doesn't excuse you from sh*t. I don't get to use the n word because my cousin is black. I'm a white female who has not experienced anything like the racism black people face, just how you have not experienced homophobia.

5) As a few have said already, the majority of the people against you are 'attacking' you because you did not give a reason. This is how a forum works: you discuss. That's all.

Omg yay, according to some people, I can be gay as long as I don't have s-x and get married. What an amazing logic.

If I have to, it's because of religion, yes, that's why I'm against gay marriage. I'm not a homophobe though. To me, a homophobe is someone who publicly shows hate for a homos-xual. Yes, I'm against gay marriage, but I don't wish any illness, death, or anything else bad towards a gay or anyone. I've said before, I know some gay people, and I consider myself to be friends with them, but I don't believe what they are/ what they belive in is right. I also have a friend that's a wh*re ( :toofunny: ), and I don't believe in her doing what she does, but I still don't wish hate on her or anything

The don't go saying "urge" out of nowhere as a FIRST reply in a thread on a site with A LOT of gay members. It's just rude and ****ed up. I came into the thread to celebrate and be happy, and all I saw was "urgh"
