Is This Happiness

has such a gorgeous atmosphere and piano arrangement. The chorus, while repetitive, is just... its very emotional. The vocal delivery sounds so honest, i cant get over it. I don't fully understand the verses yet tbh, but the chorus.. while basic as hell is something i think of all the time. I feel complacent a lot of the time and i find myself wondering if this is "happiness" or can things be better constantly. She sounds like someone whos not used to feeling things... and shes looking out to people and asking them... "is this.. happiness?" Its not as dramatic as im making it but i just feel so strongly about this song *sniffle*

I totally agree with your description of ITH

I love ITH and Flipside so much, I'm glad they managed to make it onto the album in some form.

Wait, the Target edition of Ultraviolence isn't limited right?? Because I really want a digipak version of the album...

My feelings on "****ed My Way Up To The Top"

"I think we are all taking this way too literally :laughga:

While there might be a specific hater in Lana's mind, the song seems a lot more sarcastic and talking about not someone specific, but Lana's sarcastic response to detractors. It sounds more like a "I'm better than you, kiss my ass" song than "I'm jealous of you" and the person might be someone fictional who is a metaphorical well of her anger to critics of her music, style, and success.

"Lay me down tonight in my diamonds and pearls, Tell me songs about your favorite girl/I'm your favorite Girl" -- sounds like shes jokingly telling them to admit that they like her, and part of the reason shes rich and famous now is all because of their hatred of her. (Diamonds/Pearls) Like she wants them to literally lie with her and admit that they were wrong, she's on top. Its her show :legend:

And when asked of why/how shes famous now, it seems like her answer is that I (as in Lana) ****ed her way up to the top. Like, maybe to her critics they don't understand how she could've possibly become famous with her being so "inauthentic" and "depressing" So she just claims to this/these person(s) that she must've ****ed her way up to the top... Sarcastically.

Thats how i see the song.

Like.. Lana exaggerates in interviews all of the time. I think she may have said that for the sake of generating buzz.. It sure got the stan base excited :dies: Her description of this singer may have been the inspiration, but the final product of the song does not seem to match it at all, which is why i think she was probably exaggerating.

I also wonder why Cruel World doesnt have the part she sang and why its called Cruel World now...

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

I truly do love UV a wholeeee lot, it's just that I have such emotional connections with so many of these songs on BTD because I've listened to them soooo much. I still think the fact that a week has beat out 2+ years of growing time though for some songs already. I'm sure with time these will change A LOT for me.

Music not the bling

Not funny anymore, but it is actually about money since digis are cheaper to ship and in a higher volume

Is the purpose of Ultraviolence supposed to make me want to feel like dying, because it's so depressing.

Except West Coast :music:

Believe it or not, I've resisted all leaks and I've only heard West Coast, Shades of Cool, and Ultraviolence (haven't heard Brooklyn Baby yet, tbh). Tomorrow, when it is officially released it the US is the first time I'll be hearing it. :nooo: :nooo: :emo:

It's really not all that depressing, the production is just very ambient and live sounding since most of it was live

Paper Planes

So... does anybody if record stores will have exclusive vinyls like they did with Born To Die and Paradise?

When you bought BTD, you got a free vinyl of Video Games, and when you bought Paradise, you got a vinyl of Ride.

Will we get an Ultraviolence/West Coast combo, or...?

delete it fat

Other than the special Urban Outfitters edition, I haven't heard of any vinyl exclusives.
