LeoFameMonster 1,592
Spain had good finances, but their banks were a mess and Greece, Italy and Portugal dragged them into the crisis. I feel bad for them considering it's not their own fault they got into this crisis. All South European countries are doing great besides Greece, because Syriza made intrest rates go from 4%->15% and scared away foreign investors. Best that could happen is that Syriza fails to do everything they wanted and give up. ok I know most of what u said but the whole syrzia stuff, didnt know that. Thanks for educating me a bit more on this messy shiz. I really don't want any of them to fall.
Bye 3,947
I want Greece to leave the Eurozone. I had trust in them with all of their austerity and cuts, but I lost that trust after Syriza won. Greece will not improve their way of spending when they're out of the crisis. Syriza is doing exactly what caused this crisis in the first place: overspending. That's a bit harsh and quite unrealistic of you to trust or mistrust an entire nation. Do you expect people living under austerity measures to be supportive of it? Of course they'd view Syriza as their saviour, it's only natural.

Ivannn 1,150
well I was just reading and article in Bloomberg. Tsipras said to Bloomberg today that Greece will repay its debts to ECB AND IMF... and will find good compromise for whole EU without any unilateral moves on his side... LeoFameMonster 1,592
No, it's not failed yet. just because some countries dance out of line ,it's not doomed. It's a good idea and I hope it gets better in the future. ill raise a glass to that. we all have our own ideas of why and whose at fault but no one ask's who can fix it I just don't want Europe to fall again because with Germany in power who knows. JKZ.

Luc 4,776
ya sorry boo I re read it and tried to edit and connnect it. But it does make sense no? The currency did and that is what I meant...EU has no power anymore. The pound does. Germany is trying to save it but cant when other countries default on loans. The pound? Power? As soon as the UK leaves the EU they'll be screwed.

I see it as an inability to look at long-term effects and failure to see your own problems as your own problems, funnily these are also what got Greece into the crisis. Except that the Greeks never asked for any of this, you may call it childish but it is unfair to them that they have to suffer for the mistakes done by those in power. Luc 4,776
Well, I'm a supporter of a federal Europe Same. If Italy and Greece stay in the Eurozone, it's pretty much the only solution.

craig 680
Same. If Italy and Greece stay in the Eurozone, it's pretty much the only solution. Or go back to being a free trade zone as in EEC days. Prosperous times, and countries got along better when they had control over their own economic and immigration policies. But now they did. Further austerity would help the economy long-term. Greece should cut in no-growth sectors like developing countries funding and military. They should ask for a lower interest rate. Make the labour market more flexible and stop highering taxes. Invest in a higher productivity and get rid of bureaucracy. Fight corruption and privatize as much as possible. Privatizations and fighting bureaucracy will result in less government spending, and they'll be able to either lower taxes, yogether with a more flexible labour market resulting in more competitiveness, less unemployment and thus a lower government spending because of less social insurances. A high minimum wage, big uncertainty on the future and harsher labour rules will scare away businesses, resulting in a higher unemployment. Highering pensions, rehiring officials and stopping privatizations will result in a higher tax, higher deficit and thus less businesses and more unemployment. The Greek government wants to make up for it by having less debt and thus a lower interest to pay, but that's unreachable considering nobody else wants that.
