antpats2 4,219
The AFP have raised the terror alert level to HIGH, following new intelligence. The Australian national terror alert level was raised to high late last year, but there was no specific evidence that sparked their decision. The terrorism threat level for potential attacks on police has been changed to "high" following the emergence of fresh intelligence, police have said. A statement by the Australian Federal Police on Tuesday said that the threat level for police is being brought into line with the rest of the community following the raising of the alert by the government to "high" in September 2014. "As a result of intelligence information and discussions with our partners, the terrorism threat level against police is assessed as high, which is commensurate with the broader threat level for the community," the statement said. Bebe 17,289
Not a huge deal. "The new threat level specifically has taken into account instances of attacks on police internationally on a number of occasions in the past few months, there has been no one specific incident that has occurred in Australia which has triggered the reassessment to the higher level." Basically attacks in France, Canada and Australia have all lead to the security level being raised. This isn't an indication of an imminent attack, people really shouldn't worry. Bebe 17,289
it's happened a wee while ago, wayy before the France's attack -,- .... not so much for news. It was raised in September to High was lowered to Medium and has now been raised again due to what's happened in France, Canada and Australia. The Australian Federal Police released a statement themselves today saying just that. "The factors that lead to the elevated terrorism threat level for Australia to high in September 2014 persist and the security environment remains increasingly complex and challenging, recent events in France, Canada and Australia serve as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with policing."
