I'm not interested in making any claims about responsibility, I'm smart enough to know that's just not how history is shaped. But if you're not even gonna mention the political context of IS, then why bother discussing it at all, that was my point and no other. And of course religious motivations are at the forefront here, that's how their acts are justified and how IS manages to find people willing to fight for their cause. But does the discussion end there? I don't think so but the political situation can't be used to discredit religious motivation, which is what it seems like you're doing. both motivations can and do exist separately as well as together. islamic supremacy can exist in a vacuum. we can discuss the shortcomings of islam and its place in the 21st century without having to resort to a discussion about politics because it's still valid. two cheeks of the same ass, really. Was at work today and got an e-mail: "Please do not contact Head Office today as Sydney is under attack from Terrorists - the state is in lockdown". Tense times. Everyone's glued to their TV screens. I'm hoping so hard that the innocent hostages come out of this alive. It's so terrible - to hell with these extremist groups. They have no business in my country. I'm shocked.
