By well received, I did not mean sales or chart performannce.

I meant that people/critics actually like the album and have reviewed it positively. ARTPOP was slammed by critics overall.

Huh?61 and 64 are metacritic's score ...They are almost equally well reviewed by critics.ARTPOP wasn't slammed by critics. It was mixed-positively received. :awkney:

Yes, I love the album, it made me introduce myself to jazz, her vocals are amazing, her looks are on point, the performances are good and she's happier than ever. There could be nothing better to hold us till the next pop era.

He was talking about Metacritic (a reviewers page) scores, Cheek to Cheek only got 3 points more than ARTPOP.

this is exactly WHY she did it. To get you guys into something with some Quality.

 I'm not trying to start an argument, but your statement implies that her previous work was lacking in quality.

And now that you reminded me, that is the worst part of this "era" - her repeated statements of how jazz (as opposed to pop) has true artistry. Like on yesterdays interview, she said how pop was so controlled and everything had to look and be perfect. Or how she renounced autotune.

It really comes across as her being displeased and having little creative freedom, being forced to use autotune and being more of a manufactured pop star than being true to herself.

It makes me feel like her most iconic music and image was completely false and that she doesn't even like what she created back then. Its frustrating and disappointing.

Obviously, you can have true artistry outside of jazz. So I wish she'd stop passive aggressively shading pop/her old material and just BE and DO whatever it is that she actually wants to create, so we can decide if ActualGa is an artist we even like. (Musically.)

Sorry guys. It just really gets to me when she says stuff like that, and I know I'm not the only one.

I don't like being misled. She always said "this is who I am" and had cautious appreciation for pop culture. So if that's not true, then what is?

(Still love you Gaga, girl, truly.)

I ENJOY the album. It's good to have something different.

I LOVE her vocals, she's a good jazz singer.

BUT I don't really like jazz... And it's just good for one time (maybe another jazz album in the future but ok...)

AND I just saw on some conversations people who says:
- 'You're not a real fan if you don't support Lady Gaga in this..'
- 'You don't know nothing about music/ you don't appreciate real music when you don't like jazz.'

Well FIRST OF ALL:
We support Lady Gaga, but as a fan you don't need to have the same taste and opinion as Lady Gaga.
We're all fan because of her POP music because Lady Gaga started with POP music (except the people who are just joining in in this fanbase because of her Jazz music - welcome to all of you -). So it's logical most of the people don't like Lady Gaga doing jazz for a long time (be aware I don't speak for everyone here).

SECOND:

Some people just don't like jazz, that's not because we don't like "good" music like some of you say, but we have a different taste of music. Some people like carrots and some people don't like carrots, but does that mean you don't appreciate good food? I don't think so.

Oh ok. I really wasn't sure what the numbers referenced, so I just assumed. Even still though, isn't it hard to argue that the reviews and press during AP era were quite negative- attacking her as a person, even. Even if the reviews of C2C didn't measure up on the metacritic score, the negativity was based more solely in the music, not Gaga overall. So in that regard, the reviews are more fair, and thus making this project better received, IMO.

Ok. Its just my opinion. I picked up on tons of negativity during AP era, that I have not noticed with this era. I don't really care about the metacritic score as proof or disproof.

And I said I'm not trying to argue. :noparty:

I respect your opinion. :)

Of course I respect your opinion. I am just saying that Cheek to cheek isn't really better received than ARTPOP..

C2C famously got trashed BECAUSE of the poor reception of ARTPOP. Many critics basing their score on how much they disliked ARTPOP.

I know what you mean about the things that Gaga says, but I wasn't saying her music isn't Quality.  I'm saying music in general nowadays isn't as high quality as Jazz.  She's steering us towards ART.  Same thing she's been doing forever.  Thank you.
