No one was buying them because EVERYONE knew a new iPhone was on the way and the current ones would be discounted. Secondly, Android phones have such a large marketshare (especially in China) because they're CHEAP. And don't try giving me the "they offer a free iPhone model" excuse. I'm talking about off contract, the way most people in countries like China pay for their phones. The iPhone continually outsells its main competitors, and it is the world's best selling smartphone, even though it's the most expensive, sometimes by hundreds of dollars in certain countries. Lastly, to say that the variety of iPhones is the same as the variety of Android phones is plane idiotic. There is only one company that makes iPhones and they have the same basic physical design and the exact same OS design. If someone doesn't like the iPhone, they don't like the iPhone. If someone doesn't like a Galaxy S5, there are plenty other Android phones with different design and different features. And please don't try saying colors and storage capacity count as "variety" or I might vomit. I like the minimalism of an iPhone way better than an Android phone like a Galaxy. It just makes my head hurt when all these people say they prefer Android more than iOS when they can't even give a straight answer as to why. Technogically, I'll admit Android is better than Apple iOS but really, I just hate when people hate on iPhones for no reason or for selling the same product each time even though they don't know each product most likely come with a different processor and a better camera etc but they hold Androids on a pedestal for no real reason other than they say they are better phones but they don't know why. To put it simply, Androids are the Katy Perry of phones and iPhones Lady Gaga. So in actuality the iPhone also has many different options as well. Yet these options and choices are all basically the same: the same phone, the same basic look, just maybe a different color, or (now) screen size. Are you really trying to make a point using this? . Besides Android is an open OS, many of the Chinese Android phones are forks of Amdroid (like the Kindle Fire) therefore they don't even have access to Google services. Here are just a few: More freedom and choice User interface customization (allowing you to customize literally every aspect of your phone, rather than just getting to add folders and move icons around) Expandable memory via a microSD Removable/replaceable battery so you don't have to get a new phone just cause your battery has gone to sh*t Actual multitasking (not the fake sh*t Apple tries to pull off as multitasking) Widgets on home screen and lockscreen Ability to root your device and make or use customer ROMs and use emulators and loads more None of these things can you do with your basic iPhone. So before you go on as if you know what you're talking about, actually learn what you're talking about. It's clear you're as clueless as any Apple stan when it comes to Android and what you can do with it. And fyi Android has been slaying Apple in marketshare for years, and this shows no sign in waning. In fact, it looks like more people than ever are using Android. Yes, each new iPhone comes with different specs (usually) but overall the phone is the same: same design, same UI look, same old everything. Maybe just a few new features. Android changes it up, and their new phones not only have new and better specs, but new designs, new looks (except maybe the Galaxy line), etc. That's why I like Android. And you did NOT just compare Android to Katy perry that's really the opposite. iPhone is like the katy perry cause everyone is up its ass and eats everything up related to it, just like the public gobbles up her basic music. Android is like the Lady Gaga: it's for those who don't buy into what everyone else wants and like or follow something because of its philosophy. Gaga is about doing what you want, being who you wanna be with no regrets, and Android is about choosing what phone is right for you and not being told what your phone (see: music) should be like.
