I would think that 28% is mostly physical sales, digital will be added in total overnight as the US markets hit midnight with the rest of physical sales

yes @ Sam Hunt in #2. His album is real country and very good :emma:

Yeah I think the 28% is specifically Target's numbers with a few smaller retailers.

Nothing against Sam Hunt, but the big talk in the country music community is that he isn't what has been thought of as "real country".

Montevallo is not, by traditional definitions, a country album. Nor is its lead single, "Leave the Night On," currently Number Three on the Hot Country Songs chart, a country song. But, like many things in the Hunt doctrine, it's all about how you define things  you'd think he majored in linguistics, not philosophy, or at least pre-law.

"I do think I'm country," he says, "but your definition of that word might be different from my definition. In my opinion, country music, the sound of country, has always evolved. But the one thing that has not changed is the story element. And I think country songs are truthful songs about life written by country people."

Hunt now doesn't look like a "typical" country person, or sing like one  his signature style is part Justin Timberlake, part American Apparel.

"If you're a country singer, why are you only allowed to have country influences?" he asks, ...There's certainly nothing conformist about Montevallo. Hunt's smooth sing-talk and unusual cadence laces together songs from "Raised On It," his original breakout hit, to "Single for the Summer" which, with its neurons flashing in the intro, seems like it could burst into an Imagine Dragons drum raid instead of landing on a sweet, midtempo verse.

Staying true to himself and not changing his sound for anyone, the project is garnering favorable buzz for being a little left-of-country center and roaming off the typical path taken by a lot of male country artists these days.

"I've had a lot of folks tell me that my songs weren't quite country because they didn't really sound like anybody that had come along and done it before me," he said.

So don't let the R&B-tinged vocals, sporadic hip-hop beats and occasional pop leanings of Hunt's debut record fool you.

--------------------------------

This is Sam's calling card, his brand in country music. He's anything but what most people think of as "real country".

Was that worldwide? This over 1.3 million number is America only, Billboard's Top 200 list for her debut.

No that's for their own country only- Japan

What kind of consistent chanteuse? This is now her third album in a row to get a 77 on Metacritic :deadbanana:

This is literally unreal to me. In 2014, artists are struggling to get 300k and she's breaking records :deadbanana: 1.5mil in 2014 :emma: Imagine how much she would've sold if the sales for albums didn't decline

She makes it seem so easy
