FameHookah 4,654
It just seems strange because she performs nearly all of the hits anyway, doesn't she? She sounds bored/bad on them... While she goes bat**** crazy on venus and MANiCURE (which is good cuz i love these songs too) WTF is MDNA
Elizabeth 450
People just shouldn't take it too seriously
Gomstre 2
It's called artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball for a reason. And that's what people paid for. They should know what they're going to see. It's Gaga's show; she makes the rules.. Not everyone else. It's not called The My Past Hits Ball. People complaining about this is like ordering a Big Mac from mcdonalds and getting pissy when you get fries. It's listed on the menu, so why are you complaining? A tour is considered to be promotion for a reason.
homomo 23,883
A tour is considered to be promotion for a reason. Promotion for the album an artist tours to promote their recent album. Wouldn't it make sense to perform ARTPOP songs if that's what the tour is called and promoting? 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111
Whispering 18,865
Yes, it's disrespectful for the non-fans who paid to see her show. Non-fans that pay to see a show? What percentage of the audience would that be? 1 or 2 per cent?
Guest
Nope, it's ger show, she does what she wants.
Gomstre 2
Promotion for the album an artist tours to promote their recent album. Wouldn't it make sense to perform ARTPOP songs if that's what the tour is called and promoting? So we agree it's a promotion for the album... now, what's the point of promoting an album by performing its songs in front of people who already know them? I'm not talking about the people who complain there are too many songs from ARTPOP on the setlist because that's irrelevant. If she says "If you're here for the hits or don't know ARTPOP, get out of here" it's hard to defend her. It's irritating and rude because it's obvious that many people just come because of the name Lady Gaga and to hear some of her hits they're familiar with. I know many people who have never heard any of her albums, but still came to the artRave. Or fans who don't like the music she put out with ARTPOP but wanted to see her live. DERPSTER 0
id rather she says what she really thinks than not saying it.
LaLuna 12,732
I think it's just a way for her to vent her frustrations about all the criticism that ARTPOP got. She knows that some people are only there for Bad Romance or Poker Face and that they don't care about ARTPOP, and it's gotta be a little frustrating for her, although if they still paid to see her show, yes, she should definitely be more respectful to them. Ronk 14,762
Gaga's words are here, judge for yourself: https://vimeo.com/109373950 I live outside the space time continuum.
MonsterOfSpain 8,318
It doesn't matter to me. I was there specifically to experience ARTPOP blasting onto my face.
MonsterOfSpain 8,318
At least now it's "If you don't like ARTPOP, then grab a drink" and not "If you don't like ARTPOP, then GET THE FOCK OUT!" Why would you go to the ARTPOP ball if you don't like it?
Saint Laurent 4,862
She says to "grab a glow stick or get the **** out". For me, what she's trying to say is: she is not just a one trick pony and she won't let her career be defined by two or 3 songs. Gaga is ever changing and she is trying to exclaim that we must change with her and enjoy everything she has to throw at us.
Ronk 14,762
In her speech Gaga says "This album is for a future thinker, a free thinker, for somebody who likes to rave." Then she says "For those of you who don't know ARTPOP you better grab a glow stick or get the f*** out." To me, it can't be more clear. She is saying this is a rave and it you don't know that you better get on board (grab a glow stick) or leave. She does not say anything about not doing hits, in fact she does sing the old hits during the concert. As I said, her entire speech is here: http://vimeo.com/109373950 I live outside the space time continuum.
