StrawberryBlond 14,869
Not surprised. Bang Bang isn't her solo song and it was hardly her name that sold it. It was destined to be a hit no matter who sang it. Besides that teeny little bit of UK promo, she's not given the UK the time of day for her entire album campaign. That's the problem when British artists go to America to get launched - they stay there and neglect their native fans. I think her recent comments about hating the way the UK treats her (when in reality, it's her most successful market) did her no favours and turned off any tentative fans who were ready to give her another chance. I don't know how the public's supposed to buy an album that has no hype or effort put into its release. By the way things are going, this is going to be her lowest chart position for an album from a UK standpoint. Her debut peaked at #2, her follow-up at #3, and they had a lot of promo, so this album that has had basically no promo and no solo hit...she may get #4 at a push, but only if she's lucky. Ella Henderson's going to #1 with her hugely anticipated album, Hozier will likely have a good second week and Sam Smith and George Ezra will probably keep going strong too. She's going to be upstaged all over again. It shocks me how she became irrelevant so quickly. A lot of artists fade after their debut but she dropped like a stone. The only hits she'll get from now on are more collabs like Bang Bang as her name just simply can't sell on its own anymore. C'mon guys I love Jessie J, she's like the English Gaga The English Gaga is someone like Paloma Faith - a woman who's genuinely eccentric and makes the music that she wants to make, not what her label wants. Jessie started off being herself but got more generic because she was flopping and is willing to do anything for chart success and any eccentricity she had was all a put-on. Dressing in a few crazy outfits doesn't make an artist similar to Gaga.
Sebastien 16
I gave the entire album a complete listen. I'm not much of a Jessie J fan and I was quite disappointed. However, I managed to like 2 songs (other than Bang Bang) and I kept these. Sweet Talker Keep Us Together Did anyone else find these 2 songs to be stand outs for them? Radio Ga Ga 5,671
I'm gonna buy the album anyway, I really like the acoustic songs that show off her voice on the album
Cody Draco 2,531
C'mon guys I love Jessie J, she's like the English Gaga More like the English less successful Katy Perry. :rip:
HausOfHarlow 380
I listened through the whole album today, twice. It sounds pretty generic, but it sounds much better than Alive in my opinion. Stand out tracks to me: Sweet Talker, Fire, Personal, Loud >>> , Keep Us Together, and You Don't Really Know Me. Also -- did anyone pick up an Summertime Sadness soundalike on Fire's intro??? codymonster 8,595
Right? What are your favorite tracks? I haven't listened to everything yet, mainly just the first half. Waiting for the official release. Sweet Talker is so far my favorite tho. Such a jam, and her voice sounds so good on it! Might change once I hear the latter half of the album tho! Yours? Bloody hooker 6,445
I'll find and listen to it later although I haven't liked what I heard so far on the album other than Bang Bang and one other one. This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.
