Nick Jonas denies rumors he's pandering to/baiting the gay community

Are we even a big enough demographic to pander to?

I feel like the LGBT crowd interested in music is more of a reliable crowd to an extent, a lot of the GP will run by an artist after a while but (not trying to generalize everyone obvs) a lot of LGBT more often stan for an artist and buy every track etc. Similar enough to the teen girl who the Jonas Brothers targeted in a way. I don't think it was fully intentional, it was smart promo though because before this barely anyone was into that song he released.

He is, but then pop girls have been pandering to the straight community for a while too, so it's only fair

Demi Lovato thinks so.

There are lots of gays in the world. Not all of them are out of the closet.

Don't forget that Gaga pandered with Born This Way. I don't really think it is a bad thing anymore. It gives the gay community promo and normalizes being gay in society.

I don't care about him and I think it's pathetic how everyone is just now crushing on him because it is trendy to do so. :later:

haters can suck it.

he's using s-x to sell, it isn't exclusively towards his gay fans. I mean, female artists in the industry feel an undeniable pressure to use s-x to sell to straight men. It's not exploiting a group of people, it's exploiting his own body and s-xual appeal which is his own choice :awkney: I'd say he's exploiting gays if he was using them as props in videos or saying "I support gay rights!" without actually doing anything but using it to grab fans.

If it were only the photoshoots on the table, I'd believe it. But he went to numerous gay clubs around NY. Clearly, those attempts weren't to make more teenage female fans.

First the gays
Then the girls
Then the industry

This quote came to mind as I read the OP, it's kinda true. Gaga did the same and thanked her gay fans for being the first one to believe in her when she was still starting out. We do kinda fish up new artists now and then so it's not an unusual route for new artists to take :laughga:

Anyways, Nick Jonas isn't even hot so I don't understand what the fuzz is about. But seeing as his single is top 10 on iTunes I guess it's working :witchney:
