Thats exactly what I've always thought! Scientists always look for life in places with water, but they are merely searching for life that is similar to us. Who's to say that water is actually toxic to other forms of foreign life and instead they thrive on elements we find deadly.
The point of looking for life by looking for water, etc. is just that we know what to look for, to find life similar to our own. It's not to exclude other possibilities; it's that the search becomes much harder, if you have to go beyond "known" forms of life. Where do you even start? Who knows?

but this guy wasnt talking about earth conditions

He meant the universe was very caotic and anything as complex as life would be very difficult to form without stability. Probably not many were formed in the eatly days

I like the idea that we're the first. When talking about life outside of earth we often tend to talk about it like if there is life outside of this planet then they're likely more advanced than us and if they're hostile. There's a lot of alien invasion movies, stories of alien abduction, UFOs etc...

…But what if we're the hostile, more advanced species? No doubt it's an idea that's been discussed frequently before, but I enjoy thinking about it because it's not as common an idea.

the movie avatar says helo :coffee:
