Provinces have been given a lot of power. Many say too much power. Over 40% of taxes and spending is Provincial, Most Provinces have more regulations than the Federal Government, and some are even going as far as preparing their own seperate retirement fund system The issue is that each part of the Country is doing its own thing and it is very difficult for the Federal Government to make any policies or regulations that suits the Country as a whole so the Government in turn lets Provinces decide even more of their own fate Each part of the Country doing their own thing has not only led to dysfuction since as a Nation each area has their own ideals, but on top of that it has led to major economic disparity which only keeps growing. The richest Provinces have unemployment of under 4% and median wages approaching $80,000 a year while the poorest provinces have unemployment of over 11% and median wages that barely crack $36,000Canada is gradually becoming more and more like a Union made up of several Countries Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

If u wanna function as a nation you cant have each part of the Country doing its own thing. She share the same currency and the Federal Government has some regulations also. But its hard for the Government to come up with anything that suits the Nation as a whole when each area is so different Ppl say the US states have a lot of power. Ive look at US State taxes, spending and power...
