Will Gaga meltdown due to C2C's critic reviews?

Billboard giving her a mixed review is very concerning. They tend to ride up everyone's ass and are notoriously basic in taste. The decay is real you guys...

Seriously. Even ARTPOP got a good score from Billboard.

Actually I've seen mostly positive reviews. The only negative I saw was Slant Magazine. The others and many count on Metacritic haven't been added  yet. :)

Well I'm pretty sure all the jazz reviewers who've reviewed it have given it good reviews? I don't think she'll meltdown over it though. There is still a bias against her at the minute though and I'm sure she's aware of that.

The few that have, have, yes. It's just sad too see her craft be so misunderstood and dragged with pre-handed ideas of her.

MTV News's Gil Kaufman praised the album, calling Bennett and Gaga "a match made in heaven". He added that the singers were able to "flawlessly" merge their unique vocals, that was reflected in their in-studio rapport, and thus onto the songs on Cheek to Cheek.[20] Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian awarded the album with four out of five stars, claiming that "Gaga is a wonder". She also praised that "Cheek to Cheek reveals the considerable warmth and depth of her voice".[51] The Times critic Will Hodgkinson praised the album giving it a rating of four out of five stars. He added that Gaga could have been a "habitué of Upper Manhattan piano bars and supper clubs.. as Stefani Germanotta, classy singer of standards".[52] Billboard Russia acclaimed the album with 5 stars of 5 [53] Jazz critic Marc Myers reviewed the album for The Wall Street Journal, claiming that "the biggest surprise on the album is Gaga's solo vocal on 'Lush Life', a difficult song that has troubled even the most seasoned jazz-pop singers, including Frank Sinatra. Her lower register is warm and her phrasing is heartfelt."[54] In his favorable review, Chicago Tribune critic Howard Reich wrote that "Cheek to Cheek serves up the real thing, start to finish... Both singers revel in swing rhythm, eager to buoy from one offbeat to the next and the next. They achieve considerable energy. But it's when things slow down that you can hear what these artists are capable of as interpreters, alone and together."[55] Jazz author Ted Gioia, who reviewed the album for The Daily Beast, was surprised by Gaga's ability to sing jazz, saying that "in all fairness to Lady Gaga, any singer who matches up with Tony Bennett needs to get loud and assertive... Her voice projects an appealing innocence [on] 'But Beautiful' and 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye'".[56] Rating it four out of five stars, Lewis Corner from Digital Spy complimented the vocal mix on the album, adding that "Cheek to Cheek may not be the glittering spectacle we've come to expect from Lady Gaga, but with Tony Bennett's guidance the pair have delivered an authentic and solid jazz record that respects the genre's generous history.[57]

Alexa Camp from Slant Magazine gave the album a rating of two out of five stars. Camp criticized Gaga and Bennett's vocals in the album, adding that "If not for the session musicians' top-notch work... much of Cheek to Cheek, which drags at an economical 45 minutes, would sound like glorified karaoke."[58] San Francisco Chronicle writer Aidin Vaziri was disappointed with Gaga and Bennett not "highlight[ing] each other's wildly distinguishing features", adding that "the background music is far more exciting than the people singing over it".[59]

And I love when people assume this album is because of her popularity "waning" even though this album has literally been in the works for at LEAST two years.

It's a shame that a some reviewers seem more interested in reviewing who they think Gaga is rather than what they think of her music or voice.

Its a jazz american classics album.

We had a few possibilities:

Neg critic/poor sales

Pos critic/poor sales

Neg critic/good sales

pos critic/good sales

and a few in between

It's doing great. My grandparents are loving it while they drink wine from their cellar. I like it. My friends like it. Sounds like a win to me.

Or are we asking the world to errupt into a pedestal because Tony and Gaga made an album of songs that have been done an INFINITE amount of times by legends for decades and expect Gaga to be considered by every critic as the end all be all of these classics instantly? Even if she were, do you really think they'll call her over Ella and her peers? For heavens sakes. Olive Garden is going to have this playing on their PA and I bet it'll turn into an opportunity at a Bond theme a few years down the line.

She won. Enjoy the album.

I just read the review, and it sounds more like a 4 than anything. All very positive except for the snipes at Gaga every so often.
