Economy 52,861
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-09-07/gm-to-introduce-hands-free-driving-in-cadillac-model.html the largest U.S. automaker, will introduce a Cadillac model in two years that can travel on the highway without the driver holding the steering wheel or putting a foot on a pedal. The 2017 Cadillac model will feature “Super Cruise†technology that takes control of steering, acceleration and braking at highway speeds of 70 miles per hour or in stop-and-go congested traffic, Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra said yesterday in a speech at the Intelligent Transport System World Congress in Detroit. GM declined to release the name of the model that will carry the feature. Barra also said GM in two years will become the first automaker to equip a model with so-called vehicle-to-vehicle technology that enables the car to communicate with other autos with similar abilities to warn of traffic hazards and improve road safety. GM will make the V2V feature standard on its 2017 Cadillac CTS sedan, debuting in the second half of 2016, she said. The Super Cruise feature will be on a different Cadillac model and goes beyond similar technology available on some Mercedes-Benz models that operates only at low speeds. At least they don't get drunk, they don't try to harm people, and they respect the rules.

Ursula Buffay 73
Well even if it's tested, new things are quite scary, know what I mean? I know, but they would have to test it gradually on small to big cities. Just like everyone hated GPS before, and they were like "it's not gonna work", look how they depend on it now :D

Car accidents happen more often because of human error than mechanical failure but of course this is new technology under development. Its normal to be cautious until the technology proves itself! Sara 1,144
I'd be afraid people would abuse this, like once they turn control over to the car they would go to sleep, or start playing a game, or drink, or have s-x or whatever, and then be totally unprepared to take back control when they need to. :toofunny:

I'm shocked bc in Toronto it costs like 1000's of dollars a year for a decent apartment at least in the downtown area
