Well the European Union isn't a country lol  :toofunny:

That's like saying that the United Nations has a higher GDP than the USA  :dies:  :lmao:

Well. Then you can't compare US-states to countries. But if you do that you can also compare the US to the EU. :)

i wonder if it would still have the best GDP if it didnt borrow so much for it

If the US cut spending equivalent of 3% of GDP to eliminate the deficit plus the downward spiral it would cause from the domino effect... China might of surpassed it already

Then again most Developed Nations are drowning in debt :toofunny:

Yes 240% of GDP debt... im talking to you Japan :lmao:

The largest factor of GDP by faarrrrr is consumer spending.

Like all the UK people in this thread are doing?

They're just jealous of America, everyone in Europe is just crying so much that we can't live in your land of the free

Note: Majority of us aren't in the UK, we just don't like bull****

The united states is a country made up of semi-independent states. Comparing states to other countries was THE POINT OF THE F*CKING ARTICLE LOL!!!!!

Why are you bringing up the EU?!?!?! If you don't like the article, leave the thread. Please. I PROMISE no one will miss you.

The United Nations is incomparable to the European Union, they have completely different purposes and differences in the level of unity

the thread has long since developed to be more than about economics.

This is not a thread about anything more than economics. So if you want to discuss anything but economics, get out of my thread and make your own please :)

You're just trying to start an anti-USA fight and it's very unclassy and distasteful of you.

Yes. You can't comparing countries to states. How often do people need to tell you that?

If you can compare countries to states you should be also able to compare EU to USA.

And what the EU has to do with it? Well UK is in the EU. The institution with the highest GDP in the world.

It is an institution made up of other countries. The EU is made up of COMPLETELY independent countries and it does not act as one country nor will it ever be comparable to a country.

This article is saying that IF these countries were to be states, this is how they would rank amongst their fellow states.

You obviously have no idea what the article is trying to say lol. Please leave my thread if you're going to derail it.

Jesus Christ, let it go. This article is not claiming anything expect for GDP number.

And YES, the USA has the best GDP in the world (for the moment that is). It's just playing with numbers, calm down or log off if you aren't mature enough.

aaskiasjuasj that's rich!

If you don't want replies that show how meaningless your article is and you don't want people to defend their country simply don't post it!

I'm very calm honey, just because you're seething behind your screen doesn't mean we all are.

There are certain EU laws that all of the member state must follow. So they aren't really entirely independent in reality. They are bound to (some of) the agreements made within the EU. I understand that you probably aren't familiar with the EU so here are some links that may help explain it. If you'd rather not have Wikipedia links then just ask and I'll send some others.  :)

Economics for primary school children, maybe? Surely you've been taught about variables by now and noticed the lack of them in your article?

I am not seething and I am not mad at all. But if you're going to sit here and derail my thread about other things like cultural value, healthcare, quality of life, which is a better place to live in, I WILL report you.

This is an article/topic about GDP alone. If you cannot respect that/wish to talk about other things, either make your own thread or go into one of the MANY designated anti-US/US bashing threads.

1. EU countries aren't independent. They depend on each other and on the EU. 90 % of all laws made there are made by the EU.

2. I'm 100% you can't predict the future

3. Yes and that is where the flaw in the article is. You can't compare states to countries. I think I am allowed to criticize it right? All those "what if's" are going nowhere.

According to UKIP (reallyyyy bad example I know), 75% of British laws are made in Brussels
