somechick 1 Posted August 5, 2014 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Just found out QR23 is the exact flight I'm gonna be on too From the sounds of things, this wasn't as "big" (for lack of a better word) as originally thought, and I don't think it's going to cause a huge thing, so hopefully she'll be ok about it! Completely agree with what you said, and that's the look I like to have about it. Once you're on a flight, I don't see the point of worrying anymore, you can't get off and you're not really in-control anymore so its useless panicking about stuff that could happen. It must've been awful for you in that situation! I remember when those bombings happened and my best friends dad was in London with work at the time, and could've easily been caught up in it. I was at her house when it happened and it was horrendous seeing it unfold on the TV, and everything being really tense until her dad rang to say he was ok and not involved. haha don't mention it to her and hopefully she won't see it in the news. :haha: Yeah, it was scary at the time and I couldn't have been all that old - early 20s I guess because that was a while ago now. Plus I was travelling by myself. I guess it was kind of hard knowing what had happened and travelling into an unknown situation though and feeling like I didn't really have any other choice coz I had to get home. I rarely think about that sort of stuff when I travel though. Like I don't really stress out about it on planes. On my last trip to the US in July, flying from LA to New York and we got to about half an hour out of NYC and then suddenly a guy up the back calls out "why are we turning, we're going the wrong direction"....and like it never even occured to me that we could be in danger (probably a good thing coz otherwise I would have panicked lol). He'd been watching the flight path map thing and saw the plane suddenly turn and then it said like an hour and a half until landing. After that guy called out though the pilot made an announcement that there were thunderstorms in NYC so we just had to circle until the passed. But I'm glad I don't tend to panic right away. Did he think they'd laugh it off and he'd not go to jail. It's not even OK considering all the things going on in the world including plane tragedies. If true, I hope he goes to prison a long time.
