Dayman 6,251
It's not the first time an Ebola patient was treated in a higher standard medical facility. The risk is low of spreading provided they keep clean. It's not an easy to transmit virus at all - that's why it's an effective killer though. Alien Tulip 12,428
As a germophobe this sort of worries me but ebola only spreads through body fluids such as blood or vomit but it's still important for people to keep themselves clean and sanitized 24/7. Everyday we encounter and fight bacteria which is why I always make sure I live in a very clean environment, bring hand sanitizer with me everywhere, never shake hands with anyone (i prefer fist to fist), stay away from people that look sick, be careful where you eat/getting your food from (specifically outside)keep your mouth closed as much as possible because you never know whose gonna cough on you off guard, no kiss on the cheek (always thought that was gross) and make sure the person you are dating has great hygiene as well and you're all set Edited August 1, 2014 by Alien Tulip

This; I like to think the people handling the patient know what they're doing lol
ryhanna 3,507
I'm thinking this will be handled really well, very cleanly. They don't want an outbreak in the US, so they're obviously going to take any preventative measures possible. Still though, jesus… It's scary to imagine the possibilities. MahoganySnitch 67
After watching Contagion I'll never look at viruses the same way. It was an eye-opener, I agree. What also scared me is that people were still more than capable to screw others over. I mean, a village got water instead of the actual cure, and it sucks bc you know those kind of shady schemes would occur. The doctor that died last week from treating Ebola patients spent HOURS in decontamination after being with the patients. I can't trust anything lol. Dayman 6,251
And honestly, this is the only way the patient has any chance of surviing the virus. In 1994 a scientist contracted the disese from the Ivory Coast and was treated in Switzerland - he was the only person infected and managed to recover thanks to the medical attention. It has also cropped up here a few times but it never spread at all - there are cases where there have been Ebola outbreaks in the US with zero infected patients. DogFood 1,649
Hopefully they put the patient in the facility right away and don't let them leave until LONG after they're better. And, I think the people in that facility shouldn't be allowed to leave until LONG after, to make sure they haven't contracted it. Things like this scare me. Why are they even risking bringing it into the country? Aren't they trying to keep it out? Can't they just send people over there to treat the person instead of bringing them here? I can't trust anything lol. It's definitely not like, a sure-fire process or anything and there's definitely risks. I'm just saying, they'll probably do everything within their power to ensure that the virus doesn't spread from this one patient. Idk why they'd bring a sick person the US though. If there's even a small chance of it leading to an outbreak in a non-affected area it's a bad idea... Edited August 1, 2014 by Batmans Hooker
