GagaVerse 2
Really where is the Art in ARTPOP? What does Art mean? What song is different to be called artistic? The other albums didn't include Art? (let alone the POP when the overall genre of the album is EDM)
Gracious Gaga 17,163
i don't understand how not weird people think ARTPOP is compared to any other album released this year aura venus guy swine idk just to name a few, i think are very eccentric songs could u imagine britney trying to scream "SWINE!" in a song ♥ Kindness Police. zexion_armando 241
Cause she can't do "art" very well. She should stick with pop.
djBuffoon 12,118
Here's what I think (it's a lengthy post...) http://gagadaily.com/index.php/topic/102321-what-does-it-mean-long-ish-read/
Shadow 6,625
Apparently her ARTPOP could mean anything... She did express her love through art in her visuals, referencing works of art. Her music was more of the pop part... Look at the cover, Koons sculpted her image. That's quite artistic. Do your own research.
Flawless 2,234
She is the artist, so the music she makes is her art. I think that's the meaning. idk and art doesn't have an exact definition. the scars on my mind are on replay.
Leo 3,000
When will people realise that being artistic doesn't just mean referencing other art or being high brow, it means creating something with deep meaning and beauty. If you're stuck, check out the Applause video, the G.U.Y. video, the artRAVE release party, the artRAVE Ball, the album artwork, the album itself, the entire I+V photoshoot, the Bubble Dress 2.0, the SwineFest, SXSW, Volantis or any other element of this album era. Hauser 1,262
Trying to execute her "art" through her music was not the best medium. Because yes, there is nothing "artistic" about generic edm and pop music. The paintings she recreated are art, and so was her collaborations with Jeff Koons, and her music videos for the era. But the music itself no.
heavymlover 340
Art is subjective. You could spit on the floor and call it art if you want. Will people appreciate your art? Perhaps not. That doesn't mean it's not art.

Haroon 49,685
I think Gaga addressed this herself somewhere Something about how she conveyed the music using art if I remember correctly Or am I imagining things?

2NE1LG 193
I think the art was more in the visuals (music videos, candids, performances, etc.) rather than the music which i found to be more pop. She's been doing that since the beginning of her career, but in the previous three albums, there were actually references to art in her music and not just the image. Didn't she say ARTPOP was the journey leading up to The Fame?
