JustPokeHerFace 2,564
I agree! They both bring something different to the table. If everyone had the same style music would suck. There is no competition, so I don't know why it's even discussed anymore. That's really true. I was listening to the radio on the car ride home today, and all the songs had the same alternative/rock/ballad/disco sound, which is a good genre. But since all the songs for the 45 minute car trip sounded like it, it sounded horribly monotonous.
Dunk96 2,526
Why are charts so important here? Seriously, who f*cking cares? And this doesn't pertain to just Gaga, but every artist.

I don't only want to listen to Gaga or Gaga-like sounds all the time. I didn't know people were that anti-every other pop female until I eventually signed up for GGD. lol

I've noticed a lot of male artists don't do that though.

I've noticed a lot of male artists don't do that though. I hope Gaga will change her sound more for her next album. The watered down EDM on AP was not her strongest imo. Male artists definitely don't as much, but they're rarely in "pop" as much as they are in rnb/hip hop. JT kind of walks that line, but even his last album sounded a bit dated. Male pop singers are moreso mocked, I think. Like The Wanted- they have some good music, but people don't take them seriously because of their sound. 1D got lucky, because they managed to switch to pop rock a bit. Haroon 49,685
Katy Perry makes bubble-gum pop music that's instantly infectious on the first listen; music designed for the masses without discerning tastes. The thing about Katy Perry is that she never claims to be some revolutionary songwriter or musician/singer; she makes fun, mindless pop music not unlike Rihanna and does a damn good job at it. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, isn't about making that 'perfect pop song' and doesn't mind experimenting; the end result doesn't always pay off and her singles are often hit-or-miss with the public. They're two different artists with two different goals; comparing their success is really pointless. So much truth in this, I agree 1000% and I couldn't have worded it better
Neptune 156
Lol If you think Gaga is not selling a product you are delusional. She is a singer, she is selling herself and her music. Stefani G is signed with Interscope- a label she loves- and they are helping her sell her brand- Lady Gaga. You seriously need to watch her interview at SXSW. tokyodisko 0
You seriously need to watch her interview at SXSW. I have. Gaga says things all the time that she later contradicts, changes her mind about, or doesn't mean. What she said at SXSW is her current seemingly anti-product product. That's just how it goes. At the end of the day she is still signed to Interscope.
Deacon 5
Katy's songs are so successful because she's the perfect pop star. Her music is easy to digest, relatable, catchy, funny, in step with the times, and quality pop fluff. She has found an unbeatable formula and there's nothing wrong with being a fun pop star. Gaga's music isn't abstract or experimental. ARTPOP is (for the most part) dance music about s-x and love. If she had worked with more professional producers and songwriters, and had been consistent with her image and personality, then perhaps we would be seeing some bigger hits. But she made the music she said she wanted to with the people who she wanted to and there's nothing wrong with that either.
VforVendetta 2,024
There were a couple songs off TF that were simple or basic, but that's the same thing with ARTPOP, so I don't see how it's any different. There were also a lot of deep songs on TF, or songs with a commentary or connotation about culture, s-x, love, fame, life. Telephone was written for Britney, so... lol that explains that one, but the video was anything but basic, probably one of her deepest videos. I thought Monster was unique, but the concept was typical. It was just presented well imo. I don't solely judge on lyrics either, but it's tough to get over them sometimes. Most of the music on AP was good, but I then there were songs that could have been better musically, artistically, lyrically, and purposefully. I really was disappointed with the album version of Swine in comparison to SF, same with MANiCURE. Donatella was just a mess on so many levels. Fashion was awesome musically, but lyrically I thought it was boring. Having songs to make someone feel fun or happy isn't a bad or basic thing as long as the presentation is on point. Boys Boys Boys was a perfect bubblegum track, but then there is a song like ILIR after to even out the depth of her reach. I still think she should do half fun, half deep. So she and the fans can get the best of both worlds. The thing is that we just see things very different. I see ARTPOP on point, not TF. I dislike most album tracks on TF. I always believed that TFM, BTW and ARTPOP are miles above TF as an album.

Supercarpet 52
I think Gaga haters started the war The mass media blinded their eyes Mindless haters just throw shetty comments about Gaga irrationally and that's stupid This makes us want our favourite singer to be on top, thus created a chart race I like Katy's music but I also want Gaga to top the charts tbh But people should know that both Katy and Gaga are successful in some ways They are different 2 individuals, both can be appreciated They have different music genre so their music cannot be compared in a same way Gaga isn't doing good commercially doesn't mean she's flopping Even if you think she's flopping, just remember She still have others who appreciates her music (Like us So don't worry The point is that why not enjoy the music while the artist/singer still creates works? And don't get me started to imagine what would happen if Gaga turned 30 and grew older. NO,DON'T GROW OLD GAGA
