Woman banned from Planet Fitness after complaining about transgender woman

A Midland County woman's gym membership was canceled after she refused to stop telling fellow gym members "a man" was using the woman's locker room.

After taking her complaints to Planet Fitness' corporate office, Cormier said she was told that the gym was a "no judgement zone" and they would not tell the individual in question to stay out of the women's locker room.

"I feel it's kind of one sided," Cormier said about the policy. "I feel like I am the one who is being punished."

I feel Planet Fitness should offer a third locker room to lock and let flail the uneducated and unaccepting :lana:

Thank god Planet Fitness did the right thing!

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

The way I understand it is a male decided to call himself a female.  So now he is using the female locker room.  This is one of issues with transgender's.  As I see it businesses will have to accommodate spaces for transgenders in the future like they do for special needs people.

I would stop going to this place to tell you the truth.  It creeps me out allowing that. And for the membership being cancelled because she is telling the truth - well their you go.

Transgender people aren't limited in any way and aren't a threat to others. Why would they need their own space? It's not their problem if you feel uncomfortable.

And being trans isn't 'decided to call himself' she has probably felt like a woman her whole life

İ think there is a potential issue when all that is necessary for acceptance of someone's transgender status is a person's word - because it allows a small amount of men (yes, men, not transwomen) to exploit a situation in order to give them access to women they wouldn't otherwise have. I've been told about this happening in s-x and play clubs in Europe  -  though of course that's a really different context. There is always a tiny minority who will take the piss and play the system, and make the situation even worse for transpeople.

It's really not clear from the article what the woman who was banned had a problem with. Was is the mere presence of this transwoman, or was there some behaviour going on that she didn't like? Ä°n which case, it would really be a hell of a lot better to challenge the behaviour, not the person.

theres always the possibility of a psycho showing up with a gym membership and a wig and saying he identifies as a female when he is only looking for victims. :spin:

agreed initially with the Gym but thinking of it more i could see how it might be a problem for some

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Hats off to PF. :applause: I understand if she felt uncomfortable, but there was no need to complain or shame anyone.

Im not gonna lie tho. If i was a woman and a man came into the washroom id feel creaped out... Especially since women are more vulnerable to predators

its difficult to take sides in a case like this tbh.

But it wasn't a man. She was a transgender woman.

I think they did the right thing, but I don't know. I think she may have just felt uncomfortable and not understood.
