You heard me correctly. Everyone here seems to be praising ASIB to the high heavens, but I watched it yesterday afternoon and was NOT here for it. Here are 5 reasons why. 1. The movie was too complex I went into this movie expecting an entertaining musical drama in the vein of La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Glitter. Instead, I got a complex and nuanced portrayal of addiction and mental health that forced me to have a deeper understanding for the people around me. The characters were too three-dimensional and the story had too many layers for my taste. Don't give me tiramisu when I asked for a twinkie. I feel a little scammed, honestly. 2. Gaga's acting was too believable I got so immersed in the movie that I forgot I was watching Gaga on the big screen, and it kind of took away from my experience as a stan. Plus, it's not fair what she's doing to the other potential Best Actress nominees. Glenn Close is pushing 90, and the least Gaga could do is let her win that Oscar and fulfill her dying wish. 3. The Cheek To Cheek demographic jumped OUT There were 100 people in that theater, and 99 were eligible for their old age security pension. I'm pretty sure I was the only one there under 40. I haven't seen that many senior citizens in one place since the Rebel Heart Tour. An old woman was sitting about two rows behind me, and after the movie was done she let out a huge sigh and said "Oh my god. Incredible", and then her insulin pump started beeping. It really worries me that Gaga has so many fans across multiple age groups, instead of the 13-25 demographic that is required to succeed in pop for 2 years and then fade into oblivion. Plus, if everyone likes her, does that mean no one likes her? 4. It penetrated the emotional wall I spent many years building up Being a cold-hearted bitch is something I take a lot of pride in, so when I got choked up during certain scenes and felt the tears running down my face it was a little distressing. If I wanted to cry I would have watched a Selena Gomez Mic Feed Compilation on Youtube. Sorry, but I don't like feeling that vulnerable in public. Alexa play Why Would You Do That 5. It was too short. I invest so much time into this movie, only for it to end after two hours and sixteen minutes. I remember when the credits were rolling and the old couples were shuffling out of their seats, I had a "Wait, that was it?" moment. This movie should have been at least six hours long. B. Cooper really blew it this time. -- Well, am I wrong?

No matter what anyone says about this era she stuck by her guns and went through it fully (which is RARE). Popstars give up on eras so quick now a days if it is not a major success. She gave 4 semi high budget MVs (2 of which were great), she did a full Worldwide tour, she promoted the heck out of it, she stuck by her art/music, she shared some vulnerable moments and she tried to change things up (tho it did not really work). I'm not the biggest fan of Katy's but I can say she handled this era really well and with dignity.

So Twin Peaks cameraman Manolo Rojas, who also worked with Gaga, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey (he says he was very disappointed with Mariah because of her diva attitude), granted an interview in which he speaks about how was filming with Gaga on G.U.Y. MV. It's no big thing but I found it interesting. It's in Spanish, Gaga's (and Mariah's) part starts at minute 49, so I've translated and summarized it for you. Sorry if my English is too bad, I've tried to make it understandable. https://www.ivoox.com/twin-peaks-entre-dos-mundos-12-entrevista-a-audios-mp3_rf_26783368_1.html MR: [...] the one that surprised me -and I don't even follow her music but I fell in love with her- was Lady Gaga. I had always thought of her... I don't know, but because of the way she dress I used to believe she was -musically speaking- more rebellious, but it was the opposite. I filmed the video at Hearst Castle. The music video was big, so we spent 5 days at a little village called San Simeon and we occupied all the hotels, so people who were there on a vacation hated us, but natives loved us. The film crew consisted of 200 people, with artistic crew and extras add up a total of 500 people. It was amazing, one of the biggest teams I've filmed with. There were 19 swimmers who were little girls. Pools were empty, so they were filled with water that came from springs right there. The water was extremely cold, but those girls bravely went into the water - I wouldn't have done it even if they paid me- and danced. 2 of them had to leave the water with their lips turned purple and had to be treated for the hypothermia. It was very hard. When the filming ended we were around the pool, then Lady Gaga grabbed a microphone and then she said "I wanna thank everyone for this music video. This is not my achievement - it belongs to all of you. I want you to feel part of it". And then she went into the pool, crossed it and said "especially the swimmers". And then she went where they were, she hugged and kissed each of them. It was very kind of her. She's a wonderful and very decent person, I mean, she crossed the pool just to hug and kiss the swimmers. And then she let them to take all the photos they wanted with her. The first day of shooting the director of photography came and introduced us. He was like "Gaga, this is Manolo" and she was like "Oh Manolo, it's a pleasure having you here". And then, when we were shooting, I was like "Could you move a little, please?", she agreed and she was like "Manolo, it is okay like that?" She was exquisite and very communicative, she even took care to know what my name was.

“[We’ve been dating for] almost three months, but in the gay world, it’s like five years.” I don’t know if it’s just me but that seems like a really wrong thing to say. That’s why many people don’t take us seriously. Hope he’s enjoying it tho.

Lady Gaga was deposed in as part of Kesha's legal battle with Dr. Luke and the things that she said in support of the singer are so incredibly powerful. The deposition happened in September 2017, but the court documents were just unsealed. While we're not going to go into specifics of what Gaga discussed in regards to her meetings with Kesha, there was a powerful moment after Luke's lawyer asked her about "personal knowledge or information as to any interaction between him and Ms. Sebert, physical or otherwise." What Gaga said applies to all sexual assault victims and shows the compassion she has for all of the survivors out there. “Yes, I do have knowledge," Gaga replied (via The Blast). “She told me he assaulted her.” After the lawyer asked if she knew anything other than what Kesha told her, Gaga said, “Well, you know – when men assault women, they don’t invite people over to watch. And when this happens in this industry, it is kept extremely secret, and it is compounded by contracts and manipulative power scenarios that actually include this very situation that we are all in right now.” Luke's lawyer then said, “But, again, there are people that are falsely accused of rape, aren’t there? You think there has never been a false accusation of rape?” Gaga responded, “How about all of the women that are accused of being liars and how she was slut shamed in front of the world, how about that?” Gaga's lawyer objected to the question and Luke's lawyer rephrased by asking what happens when a situation is he-said/she-said. "I believe it to be true," Gaga said. “I have factual knowledge of her depression. I have factual knowledge of her need for support and love. I have factual knowledge of the spiral that I watched that girl go down. I have factual knowledge of trauma. I am informed and intelligent about this issue. That girl has experienced serious trauma and she is in the middle of the right now. And you are all a party to it.” “Why on earth would this girl tell the entire world this happened? Why on earth? Do you know what it’s like for survivors? Do you know what it’s like to tell people? Don’t you roll you eyes at me. You should be ashamed of yourself," she added.

Talkhouse describes it as an "instant classic"! "The undeniable standout is Lady Gaga, whose performance here goes far beyond what we typically think of as great acting and moves into the territory of, say, Gena Rowlands in A Woman Under the Influence. The role requires her to play every note on the emotional scale from the depths of despair to the joyous exuberance, and Gaga is flawless in every scene. Her work proves the cliché about the specific becoming universal, as she plays each moment in surprising, unique ways and makes bold choices no other actress would conceive of, yet gives each of those moments a profound and affecting sense of recognition for the audience – every triumph and every heartbreak feels utterly honest and relatable, and it all builds to one of the most emotionally shattering finales I’ve ever encountered in a movie" Read here https://www.talkhouse.com/bradley-coopers-triumphant-a-star-is-born-is-an-instant-classic/#.W4PZE_epaPF.twitter
