  7. This allows her to create websites for her brand ending in .taylorswift There's a thought that has been running in my head for a while and I'm thinking that maybe she didn't do a showgirl tour because she's actually looking for a way to sell her own concert tickets herself after the Ticketmaster fiasco

  8. All I can say is that I'm so proud of Gaga for being a kind person and breaking the cycle. She chooses to uplift the next generation with support grace and never jealousy. It's really heartwarming

  9. I think that Gaga was really inspired during the last run of the Jazz and Piano show, as well as Harlequin, and it felt the most "Gaga" out of all her jazz eras. She was experimenting with more eccentric fashion, reinterpreting her pop songs into jazz/funk/near mariachi covers (Americano, her resurgence), while having more confident theatrical flair and giving unique vocal performances. As a jazz fan and someone who thinks Harlequin is one of Gaga's best records, I'm wondering what fans of her jazz music would want for her next jazz project. This thread could be a space to discuss fashion inspiration, musical/concept direction, or mock tracklists of jazz/Great American Songbook/vintage pop songs that you'd want her to cover. Concept: New York Lady Songs that connect back to Gaga's NYC roots (literally, figuratively, and ephemerally). She'd cover songs that are either literally about the city, songs that remind her of growing up in NYC, or songs that look at NYC/growing up in the city through a nostalgic lens. For me, I'd love for her to cover: - Manhattan - I Put a Spell on You - Teach Me Tonight - Everything Happens to Me - September In The Rain - Autumn in New York - Cry Me a River - If I Had You - I'm Hip - When I Get Low I Get High - Girl from Ipanema - Too Marvelous for Words - New York, New York (official recording) Fashion More eccentric than previous jazz releases. A little "messy," but glamorous. Both high and low brow, eschewing more "high brow." I'm mostly thinking about looks from her secret jazz performances but elevated, with a dash of "Jazz Punk/Funk the Punk" and her recent Jazz and Piano shows splashed in. (note for fashion: see Gaga from September 29, 2010 performing at the Oak Room -- hair/fur body suit with fishnets and McQueen heels and bedecked in jewels. I can't embed the image unfortunately.) But these are just my ideas/musings. I feel like she's at an exciting part of her artistry where she can experiment(ish) with the idea of what a jazz singer can be. More theatrical, less emphasis on beautiful gowns, taking a bit more creative, sonic, and fashion risks. What would you want from her next jazz project?

  18. I’ve noticed some parallels between Lady Gaga and Olivia Rodrigo, but the one I wanted to talk about today is how both artists have been pitted against their idols, rather than celebrated for being inspired by them. Obviously for gaga, I’m referring to the beef-not-actual-beef with Madonna, and Olivia Rodrigo’s relationship with Taylor Swift. What I’ve always found fascinating is that most artists can proudly show how they’ve been influenced by stars who came before them and are met with praise or blessings. Artists can reference older artists, wear similar outfits, do similar concepts and fans and the artist themselves celebrate it. But every so often you have stars like gaga or Olivia, who may or may not have taken inspiration from older artists, but they’re met with harsh criticism and called copycat’s/unoriginal. The Taylor Swift case: as Taylor has become more seasoned in the industry, she has taken artists under her wing and has given them a platform/spotlight. These are her ‘taydaughter’s/Taysons’ (Gracie Abram’s, Sabrina carpenter, Sombr, etc). Back in 2021, Taylor seemed to have welcomed Olivia with open arms but fast forward 5 years and they both don’t acknowledge each other and the fans are in a Cold War with each other. The aforementioned artists are praised for being taydaughters/sons and fans love how they’re inspired by Taylor, but don’t extend the same grace to Olivia because of the whole Déjà vu situation (which to this day, sounds nothing like cruel summer). The whole dynamic and situation is eerily similar to how fans reacted to the born this way / express yourself fiasco, and the lasting impact it has had on how these artists are perceived together/the constant discourse on what their relationship is (what I’m doing right now). The only answer I have as to why certain artists are criticised for being inspired is because they’re seen as a threat, rather than passive. I think the silence on the matter then only aggravates the fans even more. While Taylor is one of Olivia’s inspirations, she also looks up to others and has been inspired by them (the cure for instance), gaga with Bowie, prince, NIN, etc. Olivia is the biggest Gen Z popstar, much like gaga’s reign in the early 2010s, so I think a lot of the animosity just comes from that.

  19. It's a technically perfect ballad, it's rare that gaga can *contain* her emotions while singing (and honestly that is usually what completely elevates or slightly ruins some of her tracks for me) but in that track and most of the soundtrack she holds her voice back in such a heart-breaking and sincere way it just moves you regardless of relating to the relationship aspect or not, the fact its got such a powerful instrumental and some of her most poetic lyrics will undoubtedly make it a classic forever

  24. have been pitted against eachother? this sounds like blame everything on the press and the fandom, they indeed are at fault too, but the truth is most of the blame relies on both Taylor and Madonna themselves, the snowball would have been stop dead on its tracks if they didn't disrespect, shade and in taylor's case sue if denied credits, they feed the beast, that's how you get in this situation.

  29. Tbh, I think she’s covered more than enough jazz classics in her discography. I’d love to hear songs she writes instead. I love Folie À Deux so much, it’s one of my favorite songs from her, she’d kill it with ease
