Not a pianist but I’ve asked my uncle before who studied it and is classically trained at it (was the first person in our family to go to university) He has said Gaga is (from what he’s seen) a great pop/rock pianist but you can tell she is predominantly self taught because of her technique and her posture when playing plus she often hits bum/wrong notes or forgets to change chords often when she’s singing at the same time. For example, trained pianists mostly sit upright and have good posture at all times, Gaga often leans or slouches when she plays piano. Trained pianists also look predominantly at sheet music and not the piano itself, Gaga often looks down and up again at the sheet music. basically; she’s very theatrical and good but she doesn’t play like she’s spent her whole life being a pianist.

Idk how many times it's been said already, but Vanish Into You was the first song written for the album, and after she made Perfect Celebrity she had an impulse to remake all the previously finished songs in that darker sound, but just didn't. There was never an original darker LG7 concept

Years ago you could, but now you’re legally required to disclose AI use of any case. The AI they use for this however is automation AI which has been used in medical science since the 1990s. But sadly since people aren't nuanced, won’t ask even Google, and only know AI as a generative tool that has a reputation of damaging the environment (although it’s mostly because data centres and companies are cheap skates and won’t invest in cooling systems — using water instead — which is why it’s so damaging beyond the theft of intellectual property part) people aren't gonna understand what is helpful AI and what isn’t.

I’ll say this and it’s probably controversial: I think the *heavy drug use early in her career made her much less inhibited about following her gut. She had a track record of success very young, everyone kissing her a$$ (rightfully so atp tbh), and a lot of drugs swirling around her system and I think it made her *very eager to just follow her impulses to their furthest extent only getting pushback by ARTPOP. So if she safer now? Maybe but I don’t think it’s a strategic effort more so that she is just more sober and cognizant of her lifestyle than she used to be and that reflects in the music. The standouts of Mayhem not really having anything *weird* but just being well written songs should be indicative of that. She can still make amazing songs but she checks her impulses more now than she used to, and is much more self-conscious of where they can lead her

I wouldn't be so sure that is was changed to ensure commercial success. They didn't put Disease out as a 'first' single for nothing. Mainstream appeal wasn't the highest priority. Gaga loves mainstream pop just as much as her more experimental/niche stuff. So to me it makes sense that she makes both kinds of music on her albums. Most of her albums balance it pretty well. And that's what the whole story of the album and especially the tour were about.

I’m gonna be honest. Mayhem. Its not a bad album but I wanted her to have a record like Disease-Abracadabra-Perfect Celebrity- Happy Mistake. the cheese michael added felt like a generic version of Gaga being forced to make the original LG5 for fan-fodder. she should have stuck more with the crazy mistress thing and called the album something more thought provoking. Her concepts used to be stronger.

I would be 100% down for an era that is solely focussed on original piano music where she incorporates more theatrical arrangements like this

Which feeds itself into a death loop that kills uniqueness and creativity. Look at the growth in AI made digital business flyers we're seeing across social media. Line then up side by side. And look at the homogenised design, the only difference is the specific wording for each business. Everything else is identical.

AI has been used in the medical field because it can literally save lives. If properly trained it can predict or spot medical issues faster and more consistently than a human can, which it has done for decades now. Not only is that beneficial in everyday practice, but also to advance large scale medical research. This is a completely different animal them the AI we've been hearing about the last couple of years (so much so that I'm annoyed that they're both called the same thing). It's self-contained, it doesn't abuse personal data, it doesn't steal someone else's content.

On the one hand, I think there is a way to use generative AI creatively. There are a lot of guardrails and regulations that need to be in place first but further down the road it could provide some incredibly interesting soundscapes when guided by a human artist's hands. On the other hand...no It's not just about having to compete with products that are literally created via algorithms to be consumable, it's about protecting existing work from being poached and twisted. It's also creatively bankrupt until genAI takes that step into protecting humans over generating profits. Music takes love, algorithms don't love.
