This look has always kinda scared me because that woman is an imposter. It’s definitely not Gaga. It’s some Slavic woman in her 50s…13 points

Spotify has announced a new feature intended to label AI artist profiles on the platform. The tool will begin to roll out in mid-September, Spotify said on Tuesday, working as a badge that will appear on the mobile app on artist profiles, as well as in search and on track rows on playlists. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/music/music-industry-news/spotify-announces-ai-personas-feature-1236670607/12 points

TEXT: Two economists mathematically proved that AI will destroy the economy. Researchers from Wharton and Boston University published a terryfiying paper called "The AI Layoff Trap." They mapped out the economic end-game of the AI transition, and it exposes a fatal flaw in competitive capitalism. When a company replaces a worker with AI, it captures 100% of the wage savings. But that displaced worker is also a consumer. When they lose their job, they stop buying things. The company gets all the savings, but the loss of consumer demand is spread across the entire economy. If there are 20 competitors in a market, a CEO only absorbs 1/20th of the economic damage their layoffs just created. So every single rational CEO has a mathematical incentive to automate as fast as possible. They can literally see the cliff approaching, and they still step on the gas. It triggers an unavoidable Prisoner’s Dilemma. If you don't automate, your competitors will, and they will crush you on price. It doesn't just hurt workers. It destroys the businesses, too. The economy gets trapped in an automation arms race. Companies fire their workforce to stay competitive, until the entire consumer base is completely hollowed out. At the limit, the paper concludes: “Firms automate their way to boundless productivity and zero demand.” And the scariest part? The researchers mathematically tested every popular fix. Universal Basic Income? Fails. It raises the living standard but doesn't change the corporate incentive to cut jobs. Retraining? Fails. Worker equity? Fails. The paper proves that more competition actually makes the collapse happen faster. And "better" AI makes the damage worse. The only thing that mathematically stops the collapse is a targeted automation tax, forcing companies to pay for the purchasing power they destroy before they automate the job.7 points

Wow it got ugly for a bit in here. Regarding the religion argument - trying to deny the homophobia present in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam based on scripture is fruitless, because said scripture contains clear prohibitions of sodomy and debauchery, which were and still are used to prosecute gay people. The Torah contains the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, which is relevant in both Christianity and Islam as well. Individual religious practitioners and worshipers, as well as congregations, can be accepting of the LGBT community, however. This goes for every religion, so long as that congregation, school of thought, or individual person makes that tolerance a part of their belief system. I was raised in a Reform and later Conservative Jewish congregation, where everyone was accepting of me and of gay rights. Similarly, I've had Catholic coworkers who were very accepting of me (and very liberal in general, I'll add). Their faith in God- did not extend to them hating people different than them. Since the topic was brought up, Islam is a more interesting subject in the 21st century, but not because of anything inherent in its teachings that is not also present in Judaism or Christianity. Most Muslim majority nations are either developing or least developed nations, have an authoritarian or otherwise controlling, oppressive government, or both. These factors lead countries and the groups of people within their borders to be very intolerant - essentially, the same factors that make the majority Christian nations of Uganda, South Sudan, and Russia dangerous for LGBT rights make countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc. Lack of education, opportunity, and infrastructure pushes people toward religion as a savior, especially under tyrannical governments with corrupt leaders. Unfortunately, there is not currently a significant enough liberal school of thought in Islam to counteract the gravity and prevalence of Salafism/Wahhabism, two extremely fundamentalist interpretations which are outright banned in some European jurisdictions due to being at odds with their country's constitutions. This is not helped by the rise of terror groups that spread propaganda online about Western nations and values, and the fact that Saudi Arabia and Iran fund mosques and Islamic schools in the West and in doing so incorporate fundamentalist teachings into their curricula. That is not to say that a liberal Islam is not possible - it is, and many politicans in the US such as Mamdani, Ilhan Omar, and Rashia Tlaib are at the forefront of it. All that said, I am truly blessed to be living in a country so comparatively tolerant to my nature, and it's enraging when bigots make themselves known. **** Gwen Stefani If anyone wants to correct me on any of my argument feel free, I'm always open to learning6 points

Thank you so much, I've been thinking about this stuff since I was 16. It just never made sense to me when Redditors and influencers would act like Islam itself was the issue when the Qur'an mentions homosexuality directly a grand total of one time (I'm fairly sure), where it calls it an abomination, and I knew from my bar mitzvah readings that the Torah contains more or less the same, in addition to a bunch of other kinky sex stuff. (If you want to underscore it further, the Qur'an doesn't even call for execution, several hadith do, but those aren't the word of God, though they are considered strong hadith) It's unfortunate that some of the answers to these issues are in the power of our governments, like denying that funding from Saudi Arabia and Iran, but will never happen due to greed4 points
