Obviously anecdotal, but I was in Mexico earlier this year and I was at a coffee shop and was being served by a light skinned Argentinian woman. She and I were chatting in Spanish and I made a joke about my Spanish not being great, she laughed about the fact that most Americans don’t even try, I commiserated. Then she randomly took a left turn and said, “no tengo problemas con los Americanos en general, pero no me gustan las personas negras” and my fckn jaw dropped.
