She’s never done anything like this before and she knew it’d get us talking She’s up to something tbh17 points

Mayhem seems is officially over, and while its always sad to end an era, I have mixed feelings of joy this time, and thats because for the first time in 15 years (since Born This Way Era), I actually feel satisfied with the era and I am ok with it ending it here as it is We got 4 singles, 4 music videos, Several interviews, Tv Performances, Chart Success, 2 major cameos, a huge tour with minimal cancellations etc plus Gaga seemed genuinely happy Every era has had some of the above, but never all of the above in abundance at once, at least not since like 2011. The era slayed, it did not feel short or rushed like they gave up on it after 2 singles and 3 months with best case scenario a 3rd music video that wasnt even a single. I think thats what really ruined my excitement for past album cycles. Promo and era just died so fast. Its like they released a couple singles, did a couple interviews or tv performances and kinda called it a day. Between ARTPOP and Chromatica I always felt unsatisfied at the end. Like we needed at least 1 more single, or a few more promo slots or events. Anything to have era feel more complete and eventful. Everytime it ended I was like "thats it? Oh man another short era they gave up on right away" This time we experienced a long and exciting era with one event after another which we hadnt had in a decade and a half! I hope we get more of the same in the future. This was great15 points

The board of Universal Music Group has rejected an unsolicited $64 billion takeover offer from Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital, the company announced on Friday. The move comes a day after key shareholder Vincent Bollore urged UMG to reject the offer. The “Board of Directors has unanimously determined that the unsolicited and non-binding proposal it received from Pershing Square Capital Management, L.P. on April 7, 2026, is not in the best interests of UMG, its shareholders, artists, songwriters, employees and other stakeholders,” the announcement reads in part. The offer included about $10.9 billion in cash, plus additional stock that pushes the total consideration to about $35 a share. Pershing Square said that UMG’s stock has been undervalued because of uncertainty around the company’s ownership structure and around UMG’s stake in Spotify, and by the company’s delay of its planned stock listing in the U.S. Ackman previously struck an agreement with the company last year to establish a secondary listing in the U.S. in addition to its primary home on the Euronext Amsterdam listing. https://variety.com/2026/music/news/universal-music-group-rejects-bill-ackman-takeover-bid-1236762471/13 points

And here’s how the best song of the last 5 years was made13 points

This era has been a long and successful one for her career. I have noticed she has been trying to close the door on this chapter (her own words) and I feel like it is to show a clear cut separation from an upcoming era. Maybe I am delusional but she does not like to mix her eras together and likes to have stark visual differences between her eras and I think this is her saying "Mayhem is done, moving on to something else." Otherwise, promoting that an album is dead seems like the wrong move.13 points

Ns but I also don’t really get anyone being particularly dissatisfied with the amount of content we got this era lol. We got a great album, a reissue with three bonus tracks, a live reimagining of the album with a coinciding concert film, she headlined Coachella and Copacabana, headlined one of the greatest tours/live shows of her career which will likely be released as a concert film this year, she dropped two of the best vids of her career, she performed way more TV and radio promo spots than is industry standard at this point…thoroughly fed. Could she have done a couple more MVs? Sure. Is the era incomplete w/o them? Definitely not.12 points

TDD feels more forgettable but I feel like it has more chance of resurrection than G.U.Y. I just know Gaga of now sees that "love me love me plz retweet" bit and dies internally everytime.10 points

This was the first era since BTW that didnt feel short, hollow or rushed/incomplete We got 4 singles, 4 music videos, several interviews, 2 cameos, a huge tour (with minimal cancellations), chart success and most importantly Gaga appearing genuinly happy this time This was fantastic. While I am sad to see era end, I am satiafied with it, and its the first time I say that about an album era in 15 years!10 points

Imo what Gaga made clear with Mayhem is that we will not get a whole one-genre only Album from her again. Which makes me happy, her strongest work has always been when it wasn't tied to one genre.8 points

I actually get what you mean. She has never intentionally ended an era in such a marketed/formal way like this before. it’s giving….i want there to be contrast between what i did and what im doing next because there isn’t much time until my next era.7 points

Words can’t explain how sad i felt seeing this. Mayhem will forever be etched into my soul. This era has been unforgettable. She seems to be making sure that we damn well know that the era is finished Looking forward to her next chapter for her (Marriage and a Family)7 points

Obviously won’t be posting it but you can search for it. Sounds like either a BTW outtake or an early ARTPOP one. I’m also sure she once described Born This Way’s sound as a gas station disco in fact6 points

I think also someone pointed out how ever since The Fame Monster it was only up until MAYHEM where the era officially "closed". Most of the eras after TFM ended abruptly - Born This Way, Joanne, Chromatica.6 points

It's not about her hating being celebrity, it's about the fact that no matter what she does, people will find a negative point, will judge, will shame. The GP, the media, and the fans, especially the fans, love her but love to hate her.. She's the perfect celebrity, not in the sense of being a celebrity, so in all the rich and famous sense, with all the drama and the gossips.. she's perfect in the sense that she does what expected from, like a good soldier, and she does it with perfection, but despite this.. she'll always be the "poker face and meat dress singer" and less good than her peers despite her working and creating better than any other musician out there.6 points

Britney Jean, but only because of Work Bitch, and the lack of Dr. Luke. it's the worst britney album, it's mostly just Myah Marie vocals with britney mixed in here and there. WILL.I.AM did a terrible job. It was a nostalgic time for me, but it caused a war in my friend group in middle school because one of my friends hated it so much he started stanning Beyonce instead. Also when I googled it to see who the other producers were since I forgot, katy perry is there5 points

Of course, Gaga's obviously sick of MAYHEM and she's going back to ha roots.5 points

I love the idea of it. But it would have worked better as an arena stage. I have an innate hatred for box stages in stadiums.4 points

This is exactly what I think gets taken for granted. Because the gratification of consumption is instantaneous, people expect the rate of production to keep up with that which is just…not realistic if you want the content to be good. Like you, I’m genuinely amazed by how much she’s done this era and this album, the tour, and REQUIEM will be pieces of Gaga media I will cherish for years to come4 points

Not that weird. Concert films never used to be cultural moments or big things. Plenty came out after another album was already out lol Think we're just all missing the fact that this is the first era that ended on her terms since The Monster Ball ended.4 points
