He looks like he is about to perform "Why Did You Do That" at SNL22 points

The singer recorded her own version of the iconic “Baby Back Ribs” jingle for her new partnership with Chili’s. Just a few years ago, however, most people probably wouldn’t have seen Lizzo as the “perfect” spokesperson for the campaign — namely because she used to be vegan. “To be a part of this cultural event,” says Lizzo “Man, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m the perfect person for it.” After about 3 years of following a vegan diet that she often promoted on social media, the singer announced in late 2024 that she’d started eating meat again. That’s why she wasn’t worried about taking part in such a meat-centric brand deal at this point in her life. “I think that I’m very sensitive about the way I deliver personal news to the world,” she says, wearing a Chili’s T-shirt. “When I announced that I was no longer vegan, and that I was consuming animal protein, I was so nervous that I would hurt people’s feelings or let people down. But it was important for me to say that back then, because of things like this now, where, you know, it would have been super jarring for me to be a vegan in 2021, and then 2026, I’m eating a big old rib and playing a rib flute. So what I said back then to make sure that I cleared the air, and that any decisions I make now, you know where I’m coming from.” Alongside the remix, Lizzo also recorded an acapella rendition of the original, staying true to the classic everyone knows and loves, with the artist performing every part herself. "Weekends at Chili's were a huge part of my childhood and I've stayed a fan — you may have even seen me dress up as a Fried Mozzarella cheese pull on Halloween — so when they reached out about collaborating, I couldn't say yes fast enough," said Lizzo. "I don't think there's a more memorable jingle, so when putting my own spin on it, I really wanted to honor that history while also making it feel fun and very me."11 points

Can confirm it’s fake, the instrumental is fully mastered and the vocals aren’t remotely and that’s not how music works. Plus the BTW stems have been leaked for years. The vocals are real and from the demo remix that came out years ago, the acapella is either the official one from the remix or is easily filtered out with good AI from the demo remix. Also the vocal chopping is still there the “mi amore vole fay” part in the demo is extended in the remix and the beats are also off. Either way a tell tale sign of these “demos” is the mastering. Nobody fully masters an instrumental before the vocals unless it’s a bought beat like Aura or Donatella (even then their demo beats aren’t properly mastered). Also you can hear in the trail off at the end it’s an AI filter8 points

I’ve said it before in other threads but it bares repeating. Eras aren’t what they used to be back in 2011 because of streaming. Record label funding is notoriously down to about 80% of what it was. Interscope only funded Disease. Mastercard funded Abra. TDD was funded by Netflix and Runway is funded by Disney/20th Century Studios. Music videos no longer encourage album sales because songs/singles are available for free to stream at anytime on your phone via Spotify and other services. YouTube views no longer count toward the Hot 100 anymore in the US, radio is basically dead and radio interviews haven’t transferred to sales or streams since the mid 2010s. TikTok can dictate hits now like radio used to. Once your album is out in the ether, you no longer need singles or videos because EVERY song is technically a single. Singles were used to encourage album sales. Because you could buy singles separately as a “sample” of an album and if you liked them then you’d buy the album. Just like how tours used to exclusively exist to make up for lost marketing money until the late 90s when they became primarily to promote record sales higher. Gaga was on every popular YouTube channel, podcast, festival and had a big and successful tour as well as the most attended female concert in history. That’s all we’ll get nowadays because it‘a not just Gaga it affects it’s everyone. Only newer acts that dont have a tried and tested following that eat up their content release multiple singles and even then it works backwards now — now most people release single after single and THEN release an album that’s mostly like 6-8 singles and 2 unreleased songs.8 points

To be fair, after another look I totally forgot Americans swap the day and month so in fact the album was finished as early as September 2024. Which is even more insane to think. DWAS was the first track to be completed on July 9th and SOAM was the last completed on September 12th 2024. These are just for mastering however, the actual songs could’ve been in any stages for years beforehand. But according to the metadata the album was fully mixed and mastered in the form we now have on September 12th before Disease came out but after DWAS. But we didn’t get it until March 2025. So hopefully this helps some people understand how long planning for marketing actually works.6 points

I think, arguably, the motifs, themes, and avatars Gaga presents in her work come from the same genesis point and ethos, whether it's presented as a dueling doppelganger (Mistress Mayhem) an antagonistic cosmic force her personal demons or her desire to unify opposing forces (herself/"the industry"; reality and fantasy; etc.) through synthesis And I think this genesis point exists beyond the genesis of Lady Gaga herself, but rather, begins with Stefani Germanotta in her college essay Reckoning of Evidence. Are all of these 1:1 and equitable to each other? Not necessarily; however, I do find it fascinating that she has always had this dichotomy within her, whether as an undergrad or in various other avatars throughout her career, and that's where I think the real interesting discussion begins: the use of avatars and fragmentation of the self to create a holistic representation of the true self, or, better visually represented:4 points

“It was cold in the summertime” is one that has been particularly pertinent for me lately. There have been so many summer days where something truly awful has happened, and I’ve felt that sinking cold feeling while the weather is hot and arid.4 points

"I can't believe how you slurred at me / With your half wired broken jaw / You popped my heart seams / On my bubble dreams, bubble dreams / I can't believe how you looked at me / With your Johnnie Walker eyes / He's gonna get you and after he's through / There's gonna be no love left to rye / And I know that it's so complicated / But I'm a loser in love, so baby / Raise a glass to mend all the broken hearts / Of all my wrecked up friends." Oh Speechless, you timeless classic...this speaks more to my youth than it does my present, and while the lyrics and metaphors bounce between Joe and Luc, this spoke to the pathos of my relationship with my father who (I thought) would disown me for being gay, as well as to some of my earliest experiences with trash men. It's now taken on a spirit of friendships that have come and gone, but that insecure teenage boy still wrestles with the trauma of growing up in a world that seemed unable to accept him as he finds solace in men and the bottom of a bottle. "I'm gonna lace up my boots / throw on some leather and cruise / down the street that I love / in my fishnet gloves / I'm a sinner / then I'll go down to the bar / but I won't cry anymore / I'll hold my whiskey up high / kiss the bartender twice / I'm a loser / I'm gonna Marry the Night." Sometimes all I need to get out of a funk is to go down to my local gay bar, have a whiskey or three, and flirt about; however, that doesn't mean that I won't fall back to my negative thoughts by the night's end. "Pour another shot before we kiss the other side / Tonight, yeah, baby, tonight, yeah, baby / I'm on the edge of something final we call life tonight (Alright, alright) / Put on your shades 'cause I'll be dancing in the flames/ Tonight, yeah, baby, tonight, yeah, baby / It isn't hell if everybody knows my name, tonight." I love the spirit of Dylan Thomas' poem "Do not go gentle into that good night" throughout Born This Way, and this verse really speaks to the idea of raging (literally and figuratively) against living passively or living my life based on other expectations of how I should live. "Help me hold my hair back / Walk me home 'cause I can't find a cab / And we dance down The Bowery / Held hands like we were 17 again / And then it's 4am / The sun is creepin' up again / Don't you leave me / Oh, darling don't you leave me." The Little Monstrosities hate this feminist shine theory anthem, but this is how me and my girlfriends love and take care of each other through thick and thin. There is something so beautiful about being with friends after so many years (I've known almost all my friends since we were in middle school), and the love that we have for each other in our 30s is even more palpable during moments of intense emotional, physical, and (occasional!) intoxicated vulnerability. "I can't see straight, I can't see me / There's too much hurt caught in between / Wish I could be what I know I am / This moment's hijacked my plans / I'm feelin' the way that I'm feelin', I'm feelin' with you (Ooh, ooh) / I stare at the girl in the mirror, she talks to me too / Yeah, I can see it in your face / You don't think I've pulled my weight / Maybe it's time for us to say goodbye 'cause / I'm feelin' the way that I'm feelin', I'm feelin' with you / I'm not havin' fun tonight." Oh my inner saboteur...I've had these same thoughts about past lovers, but at the end of the day: this might be the most honest feeling I have about myself at times. We love to drag Fun Tonight, but I've had this conversation sober with myself when I am struggling with work, finances, etc., I've had this conversation drunk with myself in a mirror wondering why and how "it all went wrong"...sometimes it's too painful of a song to listen to because I feel like at my crux, I sit so (un)comfortably there... "Turnin' up emotional faders / Keep repeating self-hating phrases / I have heard enough of these voices / Almost like I have no choice / This is biological stasis / My mood's shifting to manic places / Wish I laughed and kept the good friendships / Watch life, here I go again / I can't see me cry / Can't see me cry ever again (Ooh) / I can't see me cry / Can't see me cry, this is the end (Ooh)." Clearly, this speaks to my anxiety-induced panic attacks lmao. "You're so tortured when you sleep / plagued with all your memories / you reach out and no one's there / like a god without a prayer." Again, speaking to my anxiety, especially the anxiety following a night out full of bad decisions and my own self-inflicted inability to fall asleep due to me trying to run away from such demons. Mistress Mayhem looooooves to party with me and then make me feel bad with the following day's hangxiety. "Do you see me? Do you see me now? / I've been waiting for you, cryin' out / Do you see me? Do you see me now? / Saw your face and mine / In a picture by our bedside / It was cold in the summertime / We were happy just to be alive / Can I vanish into you?" Both an emotional plea to my lovely partner, my friends, and just to some greater force out there (read: love) in which to find comfort and solace.4 points
