For me, aside from abracadabra- this is one of the best songs she’s released since ARTPOP !!!!!!!!! and some of you said RUNWAY WAS BETTER THAN SHAPE????? WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU

I saw a comment on IG that said “This era will go on for me until the first single for LG8 drops” I resonate. Mayhem has blown me away and I’ve been a LM since The Fame. Im genuinely sad today and it’s nice to see I’m not alone. What a ride it’s been. ❤️

Coming out of GagaDaily retirement for this one. Having someone essentially take what you made and use it without your permission or credit for an album that is available to stream by millions of people is kinda lame, no two ways about it. It's not pitchfork worthy, she isn't a terrible person for not giving credit where credit is due. Her legal team has no excuse though, they had four months to reach out to either Trent or Kavinsky + Guy-Manuel and at least put a proper credit for what they used. "Well he should've reached out in private", well her team should've reached out in the first place. "Well, he's getting his bills paid", no nerdbob, there isn't a credit so he gets zilch. Ohhhh that one message "you're lucky she's giving you a bit of exposure you ungrateful old" is soooo **** because it can't count as exposure if there isn't a credit of any of the production crew for Nightcall in earshot listed in Apple Music metadata. And Gaga stans getting bold saying oh well he's smaller and a who so who cares, shame on you. Just because someone isn't a megastar doesn't mean their contributions to music aren't equally valid and appreciated, you can put bias aside and say Gaga made a single mistake, simple as that. Even if it wasn't intentionally an interpolation, the Closer line of "I wanna **** you like an animal" is, she didn't write that or come up with the idea of that lyric and it isn't even listed in the Apple Music lyrics. But even with all of that, it's not an entirely big deal. No one is gonna sue or make a problem of it other than the fact Kavinsky just expressed disappointment in having no contact about this whatsoever.

This was such a monumental era as a fan. She seems to have perfected everything. The fashion is impeccable, the music has been the best it has ever been in over a decade, her creativity is clear. But most importantly, she's been happy and healthy this era. Truly an era made in peace. Can't wait for LG8, because for the first time ever, I can't predict where she's going.

Verses are a hot mess lyrically and melodically, chorus is fine (albeit repetitive), production is kinda flat compared to her more recent funk/disco output. LD and HBDUWM both clear it with ease, imo, in part because they’re rich with details and specificity that I think are missing on SOAW (rich explicit and implied harmonies and vocal layers, carefully crafted instrumentals, hooks on hooks etc.)

To be honest, this is now 100% on Gaga to fix, even it wasn’t her doing. If someone took a sample or interpolation of her without crediting her, fans would be livid. He’s being salty (and catty) but understandably so, it’s his signature song. The Kavingsky comparison already came out from fans that went to the live show, so the assumption it’s a sample has been there for a few months. It’s odd no one on her team saw the reviews/attendee comments. Her team are normally pretty good at this, so this is a surprise. It’s probably because they’re doing a lot of context switching with so many projects on the go.

I think it's more that there are a lot of people here - especially when something new drops. The same people who don't know him are probably other people than those hyping possible Kavinsky-esque collabs or influences. They're not suddenly acting like this person doesn't exist! Look at me, for instance. Gaga is the one and only "contemporary" artist I follow and gave my soul to, lol Before ha and still, I'm a late 70's/entire 80's music gal (everything from Eurythmics to Prince to Kate Bush, The Police, Mike Oldfield + Maggy Reilly, Queen, and so much more). So I truly had no idea what Nightcall was, listened to it a couple of times and constantly felt that even the arpeggio in question must have different notes. Called a great friend who plays piano/synthesizer and other instruments like it's a body part to compare the two (In the early morning - though she has done so as well, just to clarify): it's synthwave inspiration AT BEST. No Arpeggio note matched on sheet music or in real life. That was the debated section. She added that there are MANY songs using similar vibes, even before Nightcall came out (she definitely knew the song, unlike me ). And let's not forget Daft Punk's influence, one of them even worked on the production of Kavinsky's song. If tried in court, it'd be dismissed immediately because there's just no basis there, she said. Even courtesy-wise: it's not a sample so crediting would be WAY too much/giving a heads-up would be nice but Gaga was still rearranging songs 72 hours before the show began (featurette about making of I informed her of), so come on, let her be human, I thought. She can't pull an Abra and Siouxsie with everything she ever puts out. My friend's conclusion was less charitable: To call it a rip-off like that in public was painfully obviously them wanting people to remember Nightcall. I used my reactions here when somebody made factual statements like how it was mostly an influence/the arpeggio notes don't match at all, etc. Factual statements since my very gifted friend compared Nightcall's sheet music to Gaga's DWAS version, compared the arpeggio etc. for at least 1.5 to 2 hours for me, looking at every possible angle (much longer than I knew she was doing and had asked for. Love you Sandy, lol!) and knows a lot more about this than me - she's in the process of making her own album that combines acoustic instruments with synths and other electronic music. Anyway, not trying to start a fight or anything like that: it just isn't a sample since the notes are different. It's synthwave influenced. And different people here know and love different music, so not everyone would know Kavinsky necessarily, even if there was hype for those who do know him. If my friend hadn't informed me, I'd be in the dark. And yes, Requiem DWAS slaps so hard I have sore cheeks.

I saw someone say they sampled the Cha Cha Slide. And thinking it was a joke I listened… turns out they legit did sample it and changed the lyrics to be about big asses We’re in creative hell.
