  1. It's just weird how some people are so proud of being so dumb

  2. Honestly it’s dumb as a millennial I knew many artists from the 60-80s since forever

  3. No shade but why bringing Lady Gaga here ? Totally agree that Madonna is legendary. But Lady Gaga has pretty much proved MANY times over the last 17 years that she is her own league and doesn't deserve any Madonna comparison

  4. This is really bad, when people take someone else's success to an unhealthy personal level. I hope this person is okay. Not eating or sleeping because of a song not doing well is very worrying.

  5. This kind of **** is so gross and unnecessary. Don’t talk about women that way.

  7. Lemme rant 'cause I'm a legit hater and I'm looking for an unhealthy place to dump some negative energy Madonna's music is alright and she's a great entertainer but that rancid attitude devalues her contributions to the industry and I think her role as a champion of expression and liberation is dramatically overstated. We praise Gaga all the time about how nobody who works with her has a bad story about her because character is a huge part of what makes an icon an icon. Legends aren't only influential, they're inspiring and role models. Half the people that meet Madonna have some horror story to tell and I still can't believe we just let her get off the hook for saying she got MJ drunk to kiss and touch him and passing that story off as a joke hiding in his bedroom only to get naked and flash him when he came in? Creep behavior and I've never even looked past that one story so I'm sure she's been wildly inappropriate with many others. Poor Drake Any man who did that stuff would be labeled a predator and/or pervert by people here tbh and it stings a bit to know SA against men is still laughed off Something that irks me less than that is she's heavily credited for the sexual liberation of women but truth be told women were already pushing against the misogynistic BS in meaningful ways decades before she was even born. Literally running for president in the 1800s on a platform of secular womanhood and free sexual expression, "suggestive" dancers and singers in the early 1900s, women taking lead roles in films and shows, and we can't forget the closest thing to a real singular pioneer of the modern female liberation movement: miss Marilyn Monroe. That's where the cultural dynamic truly broke. Political wins for bodily autonomy and personal independence also predate Madonna entirely. Imho, Madonna didn't break down the walls. She took battles that were already won, turned the "provocative dial" up to 11, and monetized it. Arguably still something you can celebrate, normalizing that level of sexual expression is a fine thing to be proud of, and there's no denying her title of "Queen of Pop", but I'm admittedly such a hater of this woman that I won't give her any wins other than that title with a few dozen footnotes and "um, actually"s Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, leave your disagreements, complaints, and threats with my secretary @TheSine

  8. I was listening to MAYHEM, and while DWAS, Disease and Abracadabra seem to be logical singles (even though Disease flopped, it’s not like she fought for it), I just can not wrap my head around the fact that they didn’t even try to make VIY happen. But why? After a year, do you think there’s a specific reason for that? The song is immensely popular (in likes VS dislikes), it’s a song that appeals to both Abra and Shallow fans. It’s definitely closer to the monster smash DWAS than Abra is, and Abra still worked. At some point, MAYHEM was officially advertised as the album that featured Disease, Abra, VIY and the #1 smash hit DWAS. Not that it meant it initially was gonna be a single (see: Monster from TFM) but still, it means they knew VIY was very solid and was gonna be loved. I think many people expected the song (or at least the music video) to be released right after Copacabana, which was probably her biggest musical-only exposure to the GP since her Super Bowl halftime show. They might not have seen the 2.6 million people coming, but they knew there would be over a million people in attendance and serious media coverage. And VIY was a focal point of the show, it even went on to surpass a million daily streams with no playlisting, no radio release and no music video. So why did they not release it? Why didn’y they even pull a John Wayne/Joanne (WDYTYG)(PV)/911? Yes, it’s been a whole ass year. Yes, she’s done a fantastic job with this album and era. But most importantly, yes, I’m still fuming.

  9. That's true. That being said there will also be no second Lady Gaga. Both are different artists. This is me yapping cause I would really like for that collab to be real lol

  11. I like Disease... but I would never, ever have chosen it a single... much less as the "lead" single. Utterly bizarre. It should have been Abracadabra then Vanish Into You. I truly believe that, had it been a single, VIY would have become more beloved/associated with LG than Edge of Glory or Marry The Night. It is THE big, sweeping, epic love anthem from MAYHEM. They fumbled it, I must say.

  12. Sooo her dad told a fan at Joanne (I was there and witnessed them speaking) that she’s returning to Vegas next year for another jazz residency. Just sharing the tea… obv not confirmed but her dad said it… take it for what you will and possibly prep your budget lol. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/LadyGaga/s/PgjBKqbw7l

  13. And he said that Jeffree Star was the new Lady Gaga back then... bad take after bad take sir

  14. True, but we're raised different. We had radios and MTV growing up, with their roll out of all kinds of music just in 1-2 hours slot of shows. The late gen Z don't have that, they mostly listen to what they wanted to on streaming app like Spotify or AM. They mostly don't know many artists until some old hits went viral on tiktok, or their fave artists mention them on a tweet or doing a collab with them..., or until the algorithm introduces them to.

  15. We really deserve to give the UK props for how well Lady Gaga got treated there chart-wise during this era. (I don't have the data for the lower half of the chart lol. Sorry.) ---- MAYHEM (#1 peak, 34 weeks): 1-4-5-8-8-10-10-23-21-32-43-50-52-49-69-76-95 (Album release) *break* 100 *break* 82-33-37-56-32-28-35-62-70-65-14-84-94-98-90 (The Dead Dance and bonus tracks on streaming) *break* 80 MAYHEM had a strong chart life, including longevity, in the UK. The decision to do a "re-release" of the album with The Dead Dance and the bonus tracks really paid off. ---- Die With A Smile (#2 peak, 77 total weeks): 7-7-7-6-5-4-4-3-2-3-17-14-14-18-23-43-37-32-64-8-8-8-10-12-13-19-16-18-22-18-24-22-27-24-26-30-36-36-42-42-37-42-42-49-50-56-56-61-63-66-54-54-53-55-55-57-56-62-58-53-62-80-87 *break* 28-23-30-23-28-28-32-34-37-37-40-35-39-41 Yeah yeah it didn't hit #1, but the longevity was incredible. The song also had a top ten resurgence in January 2025, and it survived multiple of the UKs "halve points rule", which is something the song didn't have to deal with on the Hot 100! ---- Disease (#7 peak, 18 weeks) 7(!)-12-21-29-44-71-83-82 *break* 61-66-66-73-77-68-48-70-77-85 The UK was one of the only countries where Disease peaked in the top ten! Not to mention that Disease in the UK lasted longer on the chart than in many other countries. ---- Abracadabra (#3 peak, 17 weeks) 6-3-7-4-6-3-9-8-12-42-41-36-46-46-58-74-70 Eight weeks in the top ten with a top three peak! This was way better than the US, so people were definitely living for the song in the UK. ---- The Dead Dance 13-13-16-19-22-24-29-36-35-44-59-71 Stability and a decent peak. Definitely better than the US. ---- RUNWAY (#32 peak so far, one week so far) 32 A top 40 hit. I was hoping for more at the start, but this could change. This is still likely better than the US will do lbr. ---- Honorable Mention: Garden of Eden (#23 peak, eight weeks) 23-44-62-62-65-64-62-80 Umm hello?! Not a single yet this happened. #23 debut, eight total weeks, and it even briefly stabilized as an album track?! The UK was living. The UK only allows for three songs from one artist to chart at a time, so imagine what other album tracks may have done. ---- Honestly, the UK was treating her well this era, and in fact this is actually the best she has been treated there since Born This Way since that was the last time she had three top tens from one album (although unlike Chromatica she didn't get a number one, but eh). I'm happy that one of the biggest music markets other than the US was really pushing for this era. I wish this would've translated towards the 2026 brit awards , but hey we will take what we can get.

  17. Okay, Madonna is iconic, expressive, courageous, and earned her title in music. Good for her. Theres plenty of other women who fit the bill, all in their own right. There will never be another Madonna, Gaga, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey, Beyoncé, etc. They have all left their unique fingerprints on music.

  20. Ngl stuff like this is why I think being a Stan should genuinely be in the DSM. There needs to be specific mental health protocols geared toward helping people who have this level of disruptive parasocial attachment to a celeb.

  24. Off topic. I know gaga likes to work solo in her performances but imagine her doing coachella or something with JENNIFER COOLIDGE and jennifer keeps repeating throughout the performance ‘these gayss. Theyre trying to kill me’

  25. Just put on your negligee, pour a glass of wine, lay in the floor in a corpse position beneath a life sized poster of Madonna, and listen to "Free Woman (s l o w e d + r e v e r b)" for a few hours You'll be fine!

  34. Why are we allergic to fun now? An EP with cool collabs for a movie doesn't mean her whole career path is going down that route; it means she understood the assignment for a very queer sequel and made something for us to bop to while she works on a project of her own. Harlequin didn't mess up MAYHEM, so why would this be any different? Feels like we should be celebrating new music
    6 points
  35. Exactly, and... I still find the making comparisons between Gaga and Madonna, (especially here on GGD) pretty thoughtless. It's been almost 20 years, Gaga has proven herself countlessly a true icon, hopefully soon a timeless legend too and far enough from Madonna's image.

  36. Omg the official HQ version of the song is so FVCKING Gooooood 🤤 And the Sabrina song? Perfection! She's so back in the best ways possible

  37. Madonna looked and sounded amazing. Very excited about this era. And I loved the way Sabrina interacted with her it made me like Sabrina even more.

  38. I want her to do a small jazz theatre tour tbh I was sad I missed out on going to the last Vegas residency because it’s expensive af to go to the states from the UK. But if it happens next year I’ll save and go. I just wonder if it’ll be glam like the last one or Harlequin adjacent where the stage is more theatrical and stuff
    6 points
  39. To be honest I'm glad that it'll remain a fan favourite. The GP doesn't deserve a masterpiece like this
