I haven't seen this interview with Ben Winston (Grammys producer) discussed on here yet: Interesting that the article also suggests that Andrew Watt originated the rock arrangement for Abracadabra. Hopefully suggests they're still working together and he'll be involved with LG8.36 points

"Thank you to the monster community for continuing to see the artist in me and inspiring me to keep going deeper into my art. I am so humbled and grateful for this moment. I dove deep into my soul creating MAYHEM– detailing every lyric, melody and sound on this album with my partner Michael and our astounding collaborators Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Gesaffelstein. This was an artistic highlight of my career and an experience I’ll cherish forever. It is a true blessing to be celebrated by the music community in this way. What an honor this whole evening was, we are all so thankful."25 points

Gaga after posting her performance and then deleting it:24 points

I am positive a big theatrical, choreo production would've been grand, however I actually love what we got with just her, the producers and this grimey, industrial, electric rendition of "Abracadabra". It was just so ridiculously cool, final boss and "off the script". It was... TOTAL MAYHEM. I feel with REQUIEM and even LG7 that Gaga will start showcasing her production side again.24 points

Those quotes from the spokesperson don't sound at all like they're "coming for" her. I think the spokesperson worded it very evenly and politely, they thank/acknowledge Billie for saying something while also advocating for themselves, that they'd like their tribe's name put out there.19 points

As we're still discussing what happened on this year's Grammys, here are a few records and facts Gaga set up this year with her two wins! * With Mayhem winning Best Pop Vocal Album, Gaga becomes the fourth artist in history to win this category twice, after Kelly Clarkson (2006, 2013), Adele (2012, 2017), and Taylor Swift (2016, 2024). * With "Abracadabra" winning the recently introduced Best Dance Pop Recording, Gaga has become the first artist in history to win at least once in all Pop field categories. This includes Best Pop Vocal Album twice (2011, 2026), Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album (2015, 2022), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (2019, 2021, 2025), and Best Pop Solo Performance (2019). * Gaga is also the second artist to win Best Dance Pop Recording to have previously won Best Dance/Electronic Recording ("Poker Face", 2010), after Kylie Minogue. * Her wins for "Abracadabra" and Mayhem tallied her wins in the Pop field to 10, which extends her record as the most wins in the genre for a female artist and second overall, just after her beloved friend Tony Bennett (16) * Gaga has now won 16 Grammys, which makes her the sixth female artist with the most wins, tied with Adele. She's behind Beyoncé (35), Alison Krauss (27), Aretha Franklin and CeCe Winans (18), and Alicia Keys (17). * Mayhem is her second album to produce multiple Grammy winning songs ("Die with a Smile" and "Abracadabra"), after A Star Is Born ("Shallow" and "I'll Never Love Again"). * "Abracadabra" is her 8th Grammy winning song. * "Abracadabra" is her 3rd multiple Grammy winning song, after "Bad Romance" and "Shallow" (two Grammys each). * Mayhem ties The Fame Monster as her second album with most Grammy wins (three each), both behind A Star Is Born (four wins). * "Abracadabra" is her first solo Grammy winning song since "I'll Never Love Again" in 2020. * Mayhem is her first album to win an album category since A Star Is Born in 2020. * Gaga is now the most nominated artist in Album of the Year that is yet to win the award (5 times), tied with Kendrick Lamar. * Gaga is now the second most nominated artist in Record of the Year that is yet to win the award (4 times), after Beyoncé (9 times). I know some were expecting more, but I'm really happy for the other winners, specially Lola Young and Laufey. And let's remember, Mayhem is not done yet! "The Dead Dance" can be eligible for ROTY, SOTY, Best Song Written for Visual Media, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Solo Performance or Best Dance Pop Recording, depending on where her team submits it. If Mayhem: Requiem is released as a film, it's also eligible for Best Music Film (whether her team submits this or Harlequin Live: One Night Only).18 points

Honestly this is the daily mail twisting a very even keeled response to suit their far right narrative #shocker theyre just mad she said something and wanted to find a way to snidely undermine her. Loser ass rag15 points

I love how you missed out the part where she said "I think what's happening in this country is incredibly heartbreaking" give the woman a break.13 points

It's not even about quality though if you look at past winners. If that woman who shall not be named can win album of the year four times, then why hasn't Gaga won when she's continuously released better bodies of work.11 points

Yesterday was amazing seeing Gaga rock out to Abracadabra in archive McQueen and take home Best Pop Vocal Album. But even with that win, I can’t help feeling deeply disappointed as a fan. And yes, I knew her chances in the general field were slim, especially given the Grammys’ long history of overlooking her but it still stings. She’s arguably had one of the biggest cultural years of any artist worldwide. One of the greatest live performances in Coachella history. A record-breaking 2.5 million crowd in Brazil , the largest ever for any female artist. A No. 1 album with MAYHEM. The biggest hit of the past year with Die With A Smile. Another massive hit (and iconic video) with Abracadabra. One of the strongest tours of the year. By almost any metric: impact, sales, performances, cultural relevance, this has truly been a monumental era for her. However, I recently learned that Gaga now holds the record for the most general-field Grammy nominations (14) without a single win which is partially the reason why I'm even writing this thread. To me, that’s completely insane. She’s undeniably one of the greatest artists and performers of our generation, yet she still somehow gets paid dust. It leaves me with so many questions. What exactly keeps working against her? She’s delivered so many iconic, timeless hits Poker Face, Shallow, Always Remember Us This Way, DWAS, and now Abracadabra (not to mention Bad Romance, which didn’t even get nominated for SOTY or ROTY). She's also been nominated in AOTY 5x and ties with Kendrick Lamar (who is now a 27x grammy winner) as the artists to get nominated the most in this category without a single win. For Gaga, Is it because dance-pop isn’t taken as seriously as other genres? But even when she pivots to adult contemporary or more traditional pop, she still gets snubbed. Is she seen as too divisive? Too unconventional? Or is it really just consistently bad luck and unfortunate timing? What frustrates me even more is watching other artists who we all know rack up these awards year after year, despite not possessing anywhere near Gaga’s level of creativity, vocal ability, or performance power. And honestly, I can’t help but feel that in 10+ years or even by next year (no shade), many of the songs and albums that won won’t be nearly as remembered or iconic as Gaga’s body of work. Anyway, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts and perspectives on this! xoxo10 points

Throwback to this fanmade show that was a spinoff of The Necki Menij Show back in the day, I was going through old stuff on a laptop and came across this (as well as my old Tumblr RIP) and just had to share it. If you're a newer fan, welcome to the show i used to watch every week on youtube back in the AP/Joanne days10 points

She WILL release an album BETTER than mayhem, she totally can. She’s done it before and she’ll do it again. but we can’t control what other artists release.10 points

The way I look at is this - Cher, one of the biggest pop stars and music legends has literally one Grammy (2 if you count last night's lifetime achievement award). Awards do not make someone a "better" or "more accaimed" singer. While, yes, we can definitely mourn missed accolades, Gaga is incredibly successful and has received many, many flowers. And I will continue to celebrate that.10 points

We are very thankful for Mayhem, Mr Watt. Now send Cirkut to my room so I can thank him in a different way.9 points

…. Only a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (2018) - an honorary award given by the Recording Academy to recognise lasting impact and influence Disclaimer: I saw a post in a comments section and thought it deserved its own thread to really put into the context these awards vs the actual legacy of the musician and talent and art…….. sleep in peace monsters9 points

The fact she delivered this performance against so many odds shows just how creatively-inspired and committed she is right now. She absolutely wouldn't be doing this - putting together award show performances when she's no doubt had to lose sleep and tour recovery time to make it happen - if she wasn't fully feeling it. A combination of Michael, TCB, Harlequin (the album) and the Mayhem era have revived her. You only have to look at her performing lately - and, frankly, listen to the studio recording of Abracadabra - to know that's true. And in a way, I actually think this Grammy performance was the best demonstration of her revival yet. It's edginess, boldness and accidental but proud defiance (in terms of subverting expectations) shows how she really has found a way back to her artistic and rebellious spirit - just on healthier terms now and, this time, with a love, stronger than her love for art, that keeps her grounded and enables a more sustainable approach to being Lady Gaga... but certainly not an artistically-reduced one.8 points

Thank god for that. We got one of the most iconic and innovative performances from her, ever. Not to mention the live music and incredible vocals CUZ SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO DANCE.8 points

I’d been thinking about this leading up to the Grammy’s and here’s where I landed. I feel like Gaga is an artist where if you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you don’t. And she’s not the easiest person to understand, especially when a lot of her career, she didn’t even understand it herself. The fans have seen her artistry from the start, but I’ll never forget when she did the Sound of Music tribute at the Oscar’s and the headlines were ‘who knew lady Gaga could actually sing’. Meanwhile, the fanbase has been obsessing over the theatrical, cabaret piano covers of her songs back in 2008. It was no shock to us that she could pull off that tribute, the general public saw it differently. The Grammy voters have essentially told us they don’t always listen to the music or spend too much time digging into all this, and they let their bias control their voting instead of letting the music speak for itself. Which, to be fair, her music doesn’t always speak for itself in the way it would gain a win in the main categories. She’s approached her albums from a lens of ‘making music with my friends and young producers’ pretty much up until Mayhem. While this is fine for the fan base, from a technical perspective, it can be a bit unpolished compared to some of her peers. The production on Mayhem felt different in a good way, much cleaner and tighter, more simple, even less on the nose, like with the outro of Zombieboy. Let’s be honest, Bad Romance not winning, let alone even being nominated in a main category is almost criminal, and The Fame Monster is an incredibly well crafted album, which at least got flowers via nomination. I just don’t feel people understood who and what she truly was. Maybe performance of it all was making it harder for people to see. I feel it’s important to remember how much she changed the industry with what she brought to the table. Look at the fashion and theatrics of pop music before and after Gaga entered the scene. It’s not that it didn’t exist, she just so boldly shoved it down the throats of pop culture that it changed things for everyone. The fashion has become a standard/expectation instead of just left for the artsy/cool kids/etc. It’s easier to understand the grit and beauty of what she was doing when looking back compared to when it was being debuted to the world. Perhaps the academy saw and heard the grit, but not the beauty I also feel as much as we’ve loved and celebrated her, she’s gotten a lot of bad press, especially during the ARTPOP era. And the Grammy voters have admitted this is part of their decision making. Even part of the fanbase themselves threw her under the bus during Joanne, and is even continuing to do so as recently as dragging her performance last night. I even saw a user on here say it was one of the worst performances of her career. Her public image has definitely changed for the better, people understand what she’s capable of now, and it feels like this is possibly the first era where she has been universally loved and respected as an artist. It makes me excited for what’s to come and hopeful she has a shot at the big categories. Just a little thought dump. I could talk about this woman and her music until my final breath.8 points

She absolutely slayed the house down and when she went rocktastic during that bridge, I was reminded so much of theatrical Gaga all over again. This just goes to prove that she doesn't need choreography and backing dancers to make an impression. I just need her to stand there and belt out with raw talent and I'm sold. Yes, it was another televised Abra performance but it was what she was nominated for and she needs to remind the uninitiated that Abra is that bitch.7 points
