  4. The Oscars this year are planning to only let the songs from K-Pop Demon Hunters and Sinners perform their songs, and the other three nominees will just get a montage mention or something. Diane Warren is one of the excluded nominees and she’s upset saying it should all of the nominees getting to be performed or none of them. And she told a story of how this almost happened before when Gaga was nominated and Gaga stood up for the other nominees and refused to perform Shallow unless all songs got to perform and that’s what happened. Here’s Diane’s quote talking about it: “Can I tell you what I did a few years back in the exact situation. The year Gaga was nominated for “Shallow,” and it was Gaga and Kendrick Lamar (for “All the Stars” from Black Panther), right? They were just gonna do those two and I was nominated for my song , “I’ll Fight” with Jennifer Hudson, and of course everybody was mad. The next day the producer called me and said, ‘Well we do want your song and Jennifer Hudson (to perform). And I said ‘Well my friend Marc Shaiman with the Mary Poppins song and the other people, I said ‘Well hell no. if the other two songs aren’t on I don’t want to be on the show. I took a stand, and to be fair so did Gaga. Gaga as an artist said ‘No, we aren’t going to be on if the other songs aren’t performing.’ And you know what? They put the other songs on.” and here’s the source article from Deadine: https://deadline.com/2026/01/oscars-eliminate-3-song-performances-diane-warren-1236703553/#:~:text=Put all the songs on.,ballots in a few weeks. i love that Gaga is so supportive of other artists even behind the scenes and we’re only learning about this now three years later because of a random interview of Diane Warren.

  14. There’s a heavy, widely circulating rumor across a lot of different fan sites that Madonna will be joining Beyoncé to present Album of the Year at the Grammys. The fact that this rumor is popping up in so many places gives it a bit of credibility. If you understand social marketing and industry engineering, you can usually tell the difference between a random fan theory and something that’s being softly seeded by a label. This feels like the latter. For a few reasons, this actually makes a lot of sense to me, so let me break it down. Madonna’s legacy moment. Madonna is releasing her return to dance music this year, and from a life perspective, especially after her recent near-death experience, she seems to be in a period of reflection. Her music is eternal, but her body is not, and I think this era is about more than just living up to the music. It feels like a moment to close doors, heal wounds, and contextualize her legacy. She is the most iconic woman in music of all time, and appearing alongside Beyoncé, possibly to present a certain artist with Album of the Year, would solidify that legacy in a very intentional way. In 2010, it was funny to be shady. In 2026, it makes more sense for Madonna to do the opposite and place herself in proximity to the artists she undeniably influenced. That move canonizes her impact in a way that’s bigger than just her own career. It shows that not only was her career massive, but that the people she shaped went on to have massive careers too, which brings me to the next point. Gaga’s Cowboy Carter / Mayhem moment. I think Gaga is going to win Album of the Year. I’ve had doubts, and honestly, I still do. But the moment I saw this rumor, everything clicked. We all know how the Grammys work. We know the politics are real. The Grammys locking Gaga in as a “for sure” performer at the last minute, which she has a history of holding out on, followed immediately by this rumor surfacing, feels extremely intentional. Typically, the previous Album of the Year winner presents the award. Beyoncé already fits that role perfectly. She does not need anyone else. She’s Beyoncé. So the decision to add Madonna into that equation feels deliberate rather than necessary, which suggests symbolism over logistics. The Telephone hype angle. This part is murkier, but still worth mentioning. If Beyoncé’s team wants to fuel speculation at all, and if there’s even a chance that a Telephone sequel is coming, whether on LG8, Renaissance Part III, or through another trade-off situation like Video Phone and Telephone, then this would be the most convenient moment imaginable to light that spark. Gaga visibly celebrated when Beyoncé finally took home her long-deserved Album of the Year, which in many ways functioned as a career recognition. Gaga herself has been repeatedly snubbed in the major categories, especially AOTY, and it would make sense for the Grammys to finally correct that as well. The next generation setup. Beyoncé, Taylor, and Gaga were the Big Three of the Millennial pop era. Right now, the industry is clearly trying to define what the next generation of super-icons looks like. You can see this in how the Grammys have been experimenting. Last year, they tested giving five Best New Artist nominees performance slots, which historically was unheard of. Those slots were usually reserved for established hitmakers or massive breakout stars. It worked. This year, they’re giving every Best New Artist nominee a main-stage performance slot, reportedly as a continuous run lasting around 18 minutes. That intensity could create a genuinely powerful moment. So how does this connect back? It’s simple. The Grammys appear to be officially canonizing Gaga and Beyoncé (and Taylor by proxy) as the definitive Millennial icons, essentially christened by Madonna herself, while clearly laying out a hierarchy and opening the door for the next generation. In a way, it’s ageist, but that’s how the industry operates. Gaga, Beyoncé, and Taylor will always be welcomed back when they release new work, and they’ll remain relevant in a different, legacy-driven way. Gaga still could even break this ageist mold for the generation of older pop fans who still engage and are listening to music way alter and way longer than previous generations. But the Grammys are clearly trying to psychologically reset the playing field to make room for new artists. It's a business at the end of the day and they want to cement the show into future decades. Canonizing Gaga as the final heir to the Millennial crown creates space for Gen Z and Gen Alpha artists to fully bloom and it cements the Grammy's status as the show that "gives away the big awards". All of this is why I choose to believe the rumor. It gives everyone something to promote. Madonna with Confessions 2, Beyoncé with Renaissance Part III, and Gaga with LG8 teasers. More importantly, it frames them as a special class of artists who respect one another rather than compete. There’s also a political and cultural message baked into it that feels right for this moment. That women can coexist, uplift each other, and move past the tired catfighting narratives of the past. So yeah. That’s my thinking. What do you think? side note: this was just about the politics of the Grammys, which unfortunately takes precedent. On pure quality alone I believe the album of the year win should go to either Bad Bunny or Gaga as both of their work based on their respective albums alone were fantastic. I in no way am trying to suggest Mayhem doesn't actually deserve the award. It does. And even most commentators and people taking bets have said that although they think Bad Bunny could win it and deserves it (won't be mad at all at this fine young talented gentlemen taking it for the PEOPLE! Whoop! Whoop!), I think that Mayhem IS technically a slightly better album simply because it required more skill to make. On musicality and vocals and stylization, Bad Bunny could not make an album as structurally sophisticated as Mayhem at this point in his career.
