If she didn't want to speak about this subject, random Gagadaily and Twitter backlash probably wasn't gonna convince her. Gaga has become careful and reluctant when it comes to things like this. Probably for a few reasons: - fear of becoming a target (trauma) - fear that positive intentions will backfire - trying to be a pacifist (not wanting to cause further polarisation) - conflicting private interests (family/money) Although I wish she'd speak out more, I think there are valid personal reasons to not step into the front line, like she used to. She's treading carefully.

I feel this comes from a genuine place so no notes on that. It's interesting to me though how some are saying she's done it due to backlash (backlash which only comes from this forum and chronically online people on twitter). It's not only criticizing her whether she does x or y, but putting such high expectations on an entertainer - expectations that should be placed towards politicians

I'd still like her to do more. Promote call numbers for congressional politicians etc. Even if only 1 person does it as a result, thats still +1 extra. And I will always say that there was time to speak up before now that there is really no clear reason why she wasn't more vocal. Especially when ICE was in California. But as someone who has been critical of her silence, I am happy she has started breaking that silence. And I hope we see the older fiery side of her when she returns for the US 2nd leg. Especially when she gets to St Paul.

Y’all saying she’s only doing this because of the “backlash” is hilarious there is no backlash. The only place I’ve seen people complain about this is on this forum, and she sure as hell isn’t reading this during her downtime. We go through these conversations every year and it’s frankly very annoying. Every time there’s a national tragedy or some sort of injustice happening there are threads like “Does Gaga care anymore?”, “I miss the Old Gaga when she used to speak up for stuff”, “Gaga is hypocritical”, etc., etc. Should she have said something about ICE sooner? Absolutely. There’s always more she could do. However, let’s stop acting like she doesn’t care. Gaga has been one of the most vocal artists since her debut.

I was gonna post my actual opinion but what's even the point. I fear critical thinking skills on this site are hard to find at the moment and I'm just tired of banging my head into the brick wall of indignant stans who will defend anything and everything and don't understand why many of us became fans in the first place and why we care so much about her specifically speaking out. The criticism was valid and honestly still is. We wouldn't rant if we didn't care about what she says or does. Anyway, I hope she actually uses her platform in a way that's both visible (which this hardly is) to do something constructive (which this really isn't) whenever she's ready to join the rest of us in society again. And I hope by the time the next crisis hits, she doesn't wait until the hardest battles are fought to decide acknowledge the problem. ICE and DHS leadership are backing down or being removed from power already. It's important to keep on their necks but still. Good on her for finally vocalizing a specific rebuke of the nazis in control of her government, I guess. Now I just wonder if she's gonna actually do any work or if it'll just be a 2/3 minute chat at the shows and a Mr. Rogers song.
