I don’t think Rihanna was ever that deeply invested into being an artist tbh, some celebs want to enjoy the high of a musical peak and just reap the rewards that come after to do whatever with they want with their clout.11 points

Please tell me y'all saw his weird little press conference where he started wandering way off track and Rubio passed him a note telling him to get back on the subject and this idiot read the note out loud And Rubio looked at him like this Genuinely, my stomach hurt from laughing at this. Saying this when the way white people treated and still do treat ANY race is absolutely wild. You literally could still see black people lynched in public in countries like South Africa till the like 80s… and the police force was literally INVENTED to control black people after slavery ended Also, you can stereotype a white person but you ABSOLUTELY cannot discriminate against them lmao9 points

The venue is really small so the usual Mayhem stage probably won't fit?? I wonder what she'll do for the Paparazzi dress?! this was a joke 9 points

President Trump thinks the Civil Rights Movement—a series of laws and events that brought the country closer to realizing the full humanity of Black people, LGBTQ people, and women—was “reverse discrimination.” “Do you believe … that the civil rights protections that Americans had, starting in the 1960s and so forth, resulted ultimately in the discrimination against white men?” The New York Times’ David E. Sanger asked the president in an interview released on Sunday. “Well, I think that a lot of people were very badly treated. White people were very badly treated, where they did extremely well and they were not invited to go into a university or a college. So I would say in that way, I think it was unfair in certain cases,” Trump replied. “I think it was also, at the same time, it accomplished some very wonderful things, but it also hurt a lot of people—people that deserve to go to a college or deserve to get a job were unable to get a job. So it was, it was a reverse discrimination.” Source: https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-says-civil-rights-caused-170608170.html8 points

Kinda related/unrelated? I dunno? These statements piss me off, particularly the college ****. I worked my ass off to get into my college program that only allows 100 people to be admitted each year. 10 of those 90 spots are for transfer students. I was a transfer student meaning my chances were somehow even slimmer. I got in by pouring so much of my energy into having the best portfolio I possibly could. However upon getting in, despite all these odds, I was discredited and told by jealous white students who were friends with the rejected pool that I only got into the college program because of diversity and affirmative action. So **** my merits, **** my hard work right? I just simply took an opportunity away from a white person because I needed a handout. **** them and also **** Trump.6 points

Chris Brown has had his lawsuit over Chris Brown: A History of Violence thrown out. A judge has ruled that Investigation Discovery complied with journalistic standards in its 2024 documentary, which chronicled domestic and sexual abuse allegations against the R&B star. The court order dismissed Brown's $500 million suit against Warner Bros Discovery and Ample Entertainment, the production company behind the show, Billboard reports. Brown sued almost exactly a year ago, claiming the documentary was "full of lies and deception". The lawsuit's primary issue was with the documentary's spotlight on a woman who alleged the singer raped her on a yacht owned by Sean 'Diddy' Combs in 2020. Brown insists these claims are false and disproven by inconsistencies in the woman's account, as well as her own violent past and the fact that she concealed key text messages after reporting the incident to Miami police. But in Monday's order, Judge Colin Leis ruled that Investigation Discovery presented both perspectives in a balanced manner. "The court has personally viewed the entire documentary. The documentary recites most of the inconsistencies plaintiff notes, including the existence of the text messages," writes the judge. "Media defendants thus presented a 'fair and true' report of statements and the judicial record and proceedings." Judge Leis also decreed there was no merit to Brown's claim that the network defamed him by including an interview in which culture writer Scaachi Koul said the singer had a "predisposition for punching women in the face." As the judge pointed out, Brown "has admitted to punching the singer Rihanna". x5 points

1) The singles should have been Bad Romance, Alejandro & Dance In The Dark 2) Not “unpopular,” but a tough pill for some people to swallow: she could put out 30 more albums in the future, but nothing will ever de-throne Bad Romance. Abracadabra didn’t do it. No new song from her will ever do it 3) Sometimes I wonder if the tracklist should have opened with DITD & closed with BR. The “dih-dih-dih-dih”s are so atmospheric, & there is something timeless/sophisticated about the synth that starts at 0:16. Then ending the record on the BR high… food for thought… 4) Telephone MV is overrated5 points

Ok so apparently SZA recorded her show on January 15 and the full performance was released on the 31st, and individual performances were uploaded to YouTube before that. Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Gracie… none of them took long to be released. So we may have the show very soon5 points

There's a real discussion to be had about affirmative action and how much is appropriate (too much or too little) to offset the systematic oppression racial minorities face in the US but you will never find someone in a MAGA hat that is qualified to speak about it and Dumpy is actually the very last place I'd look for a constructive conversation about anything5 points

Omg you missed out on so much before that, such as when people on GagaBoards absolutely hated Bad Romance because it was “not like her usual music” and was too dark legit imagine how people reacted to Joanne and times that by like 10, or when she was basically to 2010/11 what Taylor Swift is now. Headlines, gossip magazines, EVERY celebrity being asked about their opinions of her performances and fashion, all over the radio, staying up till early hours in Europe to see the Telephone video premiere on E! Entertainment and it being the censored version- then having to wait another 12 hours for her to upload the uncensored version on VEVO, or the first time we got the Born This Way tease with the jacket picture and her whole website theme changed, the VMAs lyrics and album reveal it was everything. The seemingly impossible long drought from her injury and the tour cancelled to the Burqa leak, the mess when she told people in the Skype fan chat to not ask about ARTPOP at all, “no negativity on this site pls” on LittleMonsters.com, when she was the face of a cancelled Polaroid camera collab, when The Fame Ball was on at festivals and she was on so much molly and had her t*ts out so they couldn’t broadcast any of her live sets live on MTV like everyone else’s. EDIT: Also not to forget when fans were even more delusional then than we are now and thought the BTW standard cover was “ugly on purpose” and part of this Judas betrayal theory where people thought she would betray us 3 times, first the song leaking early on Easter, then the album cover, then they were waiting for something else before she’d “finally reveal the real album cover”. Or “the truth is in my red lipstick” had people looking for album release details in her red lips on the BTW single artworks and album cover for when ARTPOP was gonna come. i have so many memories and times since 20084 points
