It's my favorite album and a lot of her fans weren't (and still aren't) mature enough to understand the project's soul. "Why is there a song about masturbation on an album about her aunt?" "The dead aunt album!" You're dumb, sorry it's no wonder people with such poor comprehension skills prefer albums where she flat out says "I'm sad" over a generic club beat that they can shake their gay asses to while they pretend to be mentally ill 'cause it's ✨fashionable✨ Maybe that's too harsh but some Gaga stans irk me sometimes Anywayyyyy The parallels she draws between the way she deifies her aunt, how Joanne was a consistent presence in her life despite never meeting her (her grandparents and dad mourning her and keeping her memory alive), how the pain of her death changed her dad into a new person, generational grief, how her art inspired Gaga to go for it, and how Joanne died at 19 and 19 is when Gaga really decided to chase the life of an artist. Hell, Gaga was even named after her. "Where do you think you're going?" was just as much about Gaga as it was about Joanne. Mayhem might be her most enjoyable listening experience but Joanne is BY FAR her most personal, thoughtful, honest, and beautiful body of work. And that, my friends, is a hill I'll truly die on

Though i enjoy the album, its not her “most personal” album that it was marketed at: the demos of perfect illusion (kevin parker) and come to mama (father john misty) and million reasons (hillary lindsey) show she didn’t have much writing credits on the songs as they were pretty well formed by other people with Gaga just adding her spin to it. And thematically Ayo, Hey Girl, Angel Down, John Wayne, and Dancing in circles have nothing to do”personal” to her or her family. It feels more like a fake vaneer of authenticity without it actually happening like we learn nothing about Gaga as a person or family member which obviously we dont have to in music but it was marketed as (theyre all bops though). Id argue Chromatica is much more personal thematically and lyrically than Joanne ever was

Just another day is one of her best songs and she should make a full album with this kind of sound. Perfect Illusion is one of her best lead singles, and the video is really good. The original version of Joanne is better than the piano version. The final version of Angel Down is way better than the work tape, the production is amazing and fits the song. Million Reasons was not overplayed live, not more than her other successful singles, you guys just decided you hated the song because it wasn't the Gaga you wanted. It's very weird that so many fans were put off by this album and don't consider it a Gaga album. Do you even know who you're stanning? Have you ever listened to the music she was doing before being famous, to get where she comes from?

I'd say its the least Gaga album, I feel like she wanted to pull the Bedtime stories trick with softening her image, but she could have made the music good at least. Like yea she gained some credibility if you combine the Jazz and ASIB soundtrack, but honestly all 3 projects lack the Gagaism of why I'm into her. Joanne, Just another day, Come to Mama and Angel down are the best tracks. The vocals for most the album were kinda too forced, like they didn't care if it sounded good as long as she "proved" she was a powerhouse vocalist
