Here in Venezuela we are so happy about the capture of Maduro. That man is one of the worst things that has ever happened to my country. In 2017, when his regime murdered many young people who were protesting against his horrible government, he appeared on TV dancing, laughing, and acting as if nothing was happening, several times while parents lost their children. So I hope he rots in jail.21 points

https://www.instagram.com/p/DTChZxgiOuk/?igsh=MTl2cnhqcWs5MnJxNg== Explosions have been reported in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. It is confirmed that this is a US attack to capture Maduro. This has come after months of escalation in the Caribbean. It is assumed that this may be a regime change in the making, though how this will proceed from this point forward is up for debate. ---- ...19 points

Yes, I’m so disturbed now that Grok has been creating naked/p0rn content using the images from users… I mean it can NOT get worse than that, we’ve reached a new level when it comes to dehumanizing people17 points

Saw a professor of Latin American studies saying people should celebrate with caution. Two things can be true: Maduro is a criminal who an illegitimate dictator and US invading countries and starting regime change is bad Most smart people can juggle these two thoughts in their heads12 points

People who cheer this on because they dislike Maduro are knowingly cheering on the bombing of innocent civilians and basking in it at worst and are mis-informed at best. The US will just install a right wing dictatorship in the place of the current Maduro admin. We talk a big game about how much we love promoting democracy abroad but we never actually follow through on it. The US will not be the savior of the Venezuelan people, they're not even the saviors of their own citizens.11 points

I love that my f*ckass country just believes it has the right and ability to overthrow regimes or leaders from whatever nation it pleases just 'cause they want to or they believe we'll benefit from it. Did 20 years of accomplishing nothing in the Middle East, other than immeasurable suffering for the people there, really teach us nothing? I knew exactly what this would be the second Trump referred to Venezuelan cocaine as a "chemical weapon of mass destruction". Literally the same justification, the same lie, as the Iraq invasion. Maduro is not a good man, the Venezuelan government is corrupt, but does that give the US the right to just stomp on other nations' sovereignty again and again? This country is f*cked. The question is how far are we gonna go this time? Boots on the ground in South America? Sending people's families to overthrow a military government and not even pretending it's for a good cause? What an infuriating and embarrassing time to be an American.9 points

I'm sorry but from a non-american point of view, no one joining the US military should be respected. The US army has been since decades a complete terrorist organization, invading, bombing and ruining countless countries, responsible for million of losses. Anyone willingly joining this imperial mass destruction organization is either stupid and completly blinded by propaganda, or a truely evil person, or both. And in 2025, I think that most people know that all these US led wars are never for a good cause and never end up right.8 points

I have to laugh at people trying to explain to Venezuelans the consequences of this. Girl, we know, we still celebrate this because that man deserves to suffer and rot in jail, I can assure you that you have no idea of the things that happen in Venezuela.7 points

Let's not, let's not put Maduro as a victim because he's not. He has been really problematic for the region.7 points

It's creepy I second guess everything I see now. It shouldn't be like that. AI can be useful for some things like admin and doing tasks more efficiently (I was selling a bunch of games, took a photo of the stack and asked it to list them all - amazing ) but AI 'art' etc can absolutely **** off. Unless it's a joke like @River making a Vaseline Dion7 points

It really is crazy that out of the thousands of pictures taken during this shoot, they ended up choosing for the album cover what anyone else in their right mind would have left on the cutting room floor. Just a spur-of-the-moment, unframed, almost accidental shot of her getting back up from posing on the floor. And yet, her facial expression totally encapsulates the raw energy, passion and craziness of the album. It's not posed, it's taken halfway through a movement, which makes it so dynamic and exciting. That's one hell of a face expression, and I totally get why they disregarded the numerous technical flaws of the shot and got out of their way in postproduction to make it work.7 points

There were no bombings on civilians, only Military bases which Maduro's controls (or used to control) Agreed, I dislike Trump very much and still do, but I am someone who is living illegally on a foreign country because me and my family had to run away of our home in search of a 'stable' life outside Venezuela. I grew up watching the country be destroyed by the Chavist government6 points

Same violence they’ve lived for decades in the same way or through other forms of oppression. Most of us are privileged enough to not have ever encountered what living under a regime is like, I don’t think we have a right to tell Venezuelan people how to react under these circumstances. Change is a grey area for them.6 points

A lot of Venezuelans here in the US hate Maduro and are celebrating. But in the grand scheme of things this is not good.6 points

The Dead Dance just pushed Bad Romance to #10 and now is the #9 biggest hit on the Dutch Top 40. Kinda insane it’s still charting at #29 after 17 weeks on the chart, mostly thanks to the radio and lack of new songs.6 points

From what I've read, a bunch of American (and European) cooperations built the infrastructure to extract oil and gas from Venezuela. Then, the Venezuelan government decided they wanted to be in charge of their own resources. Which is their right tbh. That was literally decades ago. The 60s or something. But now, Trump and Miller are making the claim that the US owns that infrastructure, therefore we own the oil, so we're "taking it back". The US government itself was never a part of it aside from dealing with the import/export and taxes side of the deal. Basically, Trump is now bombing Venezuela to reinstate American corporate control over their oil. That's it.6 points

"People have the right to criticize right wing Venezuelans?" This is so stupid and reductive. it's so idk, insensitive and out of touch talking critizing "right wing venezuelans" and talking about possible innocents dying as if in the last 10 years any of the people sudden outraged by this (especially americans and europeans) cared about people in venezuela being hungry or dying or having to abandon their country or not being able to choose president. Edit: This is pissing off a lot of venezuelans on social media, how a lot of leftists (idk the right concept for people who follows left-wing stuff) from america and europe are talking about oil and international law and judging people for being happy but never did anything to help to prevent this situation, never cared about the things that happened there.5 points

Because venezuelan people tried everything to get rid of maduro, everything, but they rigged the elections, killed and jailed oppositors. They were in a dead end, because if Maduro died, the regimen had another names to keep going on (i think Diosdado was a possible Maduro sucessor). That's the reason why they are celebrating this because they tried everything.5 points
-
This f*cking part. As if the US cares about the quality of Venezuelans' lives. Our leaders just want a beneficial deal and Maduro was being a punk. Not a shred of altruism or justice in this.5 points

What kills me is that all the short form platforms are like 75% ai videos now and the comments are full of people who think it’s real. The internet isn’t even used primarily to interact with other people anymore, it’s used to extract information out of you, get you to buy things, and get you to interact with fake content. It’s basically the matrix5 points

I have never and never will generate an AI image - it baffles me people have any interest in doing so. The internet is already over-populated with so much content for people to enjoy, why would you want to create more that has absolutely no meaning and is not based in any reality? I don’t understand why people don’t pause and ask themselves before doing it, “do I really need this?” and if so, “should I not pay someone to make it?” I swear we all have pea brains and it scares me how willingly everyone a) wants to never know if anything online is genuine and b) walk themselves towards climate destruction and mass unemployment. It’s so shocking no government has any real laws and just proves society is all being run by big tech companies5 points
