🚂 LG8: Official Hype Train Thread Gaga has hyped new music for the first time this week. She officially announced she started working in the studio and made A LOT of new music. LG8 pre-era is starting (for thousand of pages ) ! Time to take your ticket for the long ride (or maybe not that long ?). Feel free to share and feed the discussion with news, rumours, thoughts and more A recap of what we know (I'll update) : - Gaga announced in the Zane Lowe interview that she recorded new music in the studio while being on tour (she was in the studio the day before). She said she made a LOT of new music. She doesn't exclude a new release for 2026 (if the creative process is going well). She said she's in one of the best creative period of her career. - At the Harlequin premiere night Gaga said once again that she made a lot of new music while being on tour. She also said that she set up a studio in her hotel rooms while traveling. - The Weeknd rumour collab. All started in 2024 when Gaga was working on MAYHEM in the studio. There was a leak on reddit saying Abel spent some time at Shangri-LA studio. Working with Gaga. The next day, The Weeknd posted a Instagram story showing Prince. We know Gaga had a frame with a Prince picture in the studio. Because he inspired a lot the creative process. Then later in the year he regularly posted pics of Gaga randomly. That how it started. What revived it ? Abel posting another vintage pic of Gaga on Instagram story. Deezer teasing the collab posting 'SOTY in the making'. Gaga teased the collab during the Zane Lowe interview (while being asked about the potential collab) saying 'I love Abel, that's all Im gonna say (laugh)'. - Telephone 2.0 : Gaga teased a lot the Telephone sequel while being on MAYHEM promo campaign (Spotify press conference, Hot Ones, Lies Detector Test and more), saying that she WILL do it. During her Paris show on Nov 18th she teased a bit more during the message board session before the show : ‘You’ve been a very bad girl, a very very bad girl, Gaga. (by Giselle, 44) ; Gaga's answer : ‘Is that a Telephone request ? xx’. Gisele is second Beyoncé name and she's 44. - On Rolling Stone interview from November 2025 : They confirmed Gaga was back in the studio at Village Studios in LA in October. During a short break from her tour. - On October 20th Vogue Italia confirmed Gaga has a new song used for The Devil Wears Prada 2', that she asked the song not being played during the filming. They also confirmed the song will be featured on both sountrack and... Gaga album. Polydor France (Gaga's French label) liked some posts on Instagram saying Gaga has an album coming in 2026, following Vogue's article. Other stuff : - Rumour has it Gaga met Giorgio Moroder while being touring in Europe. - On November Andrew Watt's wife said on Instagram Andrew was off for a while an missing him. Could be involved ? - During MAYHEM promo, Gaga said Princess Die would be worthy for a new recording, Frankenstein was the only song she revisited in the studio. And she talked about a mysterious ballad that she refused to name because she may releases it. - Unknown lyrics on Gaga's website promoting MAYHEM : 'What’s in a gothic dream ?’ ‘Have been so worried that I’m lost’ ‘I try so hard to sing’ - Gaga sang different unknown lyrics while finishing MTN : ‘I'll see you in the morning and it'll be alright.’ - MAYHEM REQUIEM show having big industrial electronic rock / grunge vibes. Visuals being dark futuristic gothic. She played some The Weeknd, Nine Inch Nails, Gesafelstein, Kavinsky, Desireless, Justice and Daft Punk music beforfe her show. Teasing orientation of next project ? - Feeding the duet rumours with The Weeknd and the collab with Giorgio Moroder on new music : Gaga played Big Sleep by The Weeknd (feat. Omg I just realized… This is the first time since 2010 there won’t be a rumored song titled “Garden Of Eden”

What excites me the most is seeing her talk about BTW so much. That album is so wild in the way it explores the pop sound and the songs could never be sung by anyone else but her. It really feels like Mayhem was her way of easing back into that energy, reconnecting with her own style and aesthetics, and now she’s fully back, unstoppable and as creative as ever. I see people speculating about which genre she’ll focus on (funk, disco, electronic?), but to me it’s clear that her direction isn’t really about genre this time. It’s about worldbuilding in total freedom, embracing every wild swing, and going all in on whatever she feels compelled to explore. Seeing her return to that spirit is what excites me the most. Can't wait for whatever is coming!

Before the album came out, I would’ve said 3, but honestly I feel like 1 best encompasses all of the different moods on the album, so I’ll go with that.

Disease has now over 300m streams on Spotify, becoming the 3rd MAYHEM track to achieve that and the 24th overall

You know if you’d have asked me a few weeks ago if I could see Gaga releasing another album in 2026 only like a year and half (maybe) after Mayhem I’d have said no BUT NOW. i genuinely believe she might put out a new album in time for Spring or Summer 2026. She is being creative and collaborative, she’s making music on the road again (not just writing it but actually recording) like she did back in 2010-2012. She has finally gotten around to meeting and working with the GODFATHER of disco music after almost 10 years of trying, who made Donna Summer’s biggest songs. I genuinely think we could be in for another actual full fleshed out dance album AND one made when she’s happy, like she hasn’t made an album being genuinely happy since working with Tony (and Harlequin/Mayhem obvs). Normally I don’t get hyped but I can totally see her dropping the lead single for the GRAMMYs (where I feel like she’ll possibly FINALLY get an AOTY win- #Justice4BTW) or the Abel collab in time for it.

Random thought, but as much as MAYHEM is one of my favorite eras and albums of her, I'm not really sad letting it go when it'll be a wrap on April 2026. I mean it's a VERY satisfying era, we've been served so hard and the material was absolutely stunning. The tour is her best ever (please bring me back in the audience in Paris ). It feels complete to me. A feeling that I was expecting to feel again when it's about a Lady Gaga era. Grammy Awards will hopefully be the big win for her to wrap on a big high that fabulous album campaign. I'm ready as a fan for what's next, I'm sure she is as well. I'm certain LG8 will be another serve !

Honestly, MAYHEM is still so fresh and new to me, so I'm not impatient. Love MAYHEM with every part of my heart. So for the next record, I want only one thing: for her to be happy and inspired as she was when she created MAYHEM, that's all.

I just wanna say, that as fans, I'm sure we can all feel that she's alive alive and inspired, because not a lot of other musicians or bands can revisit the spark again deep into their career, usually the fans are complaining like 'we want old X back' or 'their earlier albums can't be topped' , but not Gaga this time. I don't know if it's recency bias speaking but I don't feel it is, because I was surprised with Mayhem, at first I thought she needed more darkness industrial/rock/avant garde ala Disease and Abra, but when the album came out.. I didn't know I needed Vanish Into You more than whatever my idealised version of Gaga's artistry, which still very cool with Abra and stuff, but whew.. genuinely surprised.

Just not good enough. It feels like nothing but a very cheap atempt to have a viral moment on TikTok.

Since MAYHEM is Still so fresh and our thirst has been quenched I think this ride will be more fun. Definitely not as painful as pre LG7 era

I wonder if Joker’s major flop made her focus on music more. Cause she can’t make another flop film right now, it would be a lot for her early acting career. And also because she’s maybe tired of doing all that amazing work only for the film to be divisive because of the director, she’s not in control of the result. Joker was panned but Harlequin was praised.
