These are the best types of interviews and it’s a shame there are so few of them. I also love the one where she talked about how she made Disease. We stan a real artist who knows their stuff.16 points

Lady Gaga will not have to stop selling Mayhem album and tour merchandise after a surf company lost its legal bid for a trademark infringement injunction against the pop superstar. It’s a key win for Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) in the lawsuit filed back in March by Lost Surfboards, which has been selling surf equipment and apparel emblazoned with the word “Mayhem” since the 1980s. The company alleged the artwork for Gaga’s chart-topping album, Mayhem, infringed its logo, and it sought to bar her from putting it on merch for her ongoing Mayhem Ball tour. Judge Fernando M. Olguin rejected that initial request on Monday (Dec. 15), saying there’s little merit to the trademark infringement claims. While technically not a final ruling, the judge’s decision strongly indicates that he will not allow the case to make it to trial. https://www.billboard.com/pro/lady-gaga-mayhem-logo-lawsuit-star-key-win-against-surf-co/12 points

44. Sabrina Carpenter – Man’s Best Friend 37. Olivia Dean – The Art of Loving 11. Jade – That’s Showbiz Baby! 8. Bad Bunny – Debí Tirar Más Fotos 7. Lily Allen – West End Girl 6. PinkPantheress – Fancy That 5. Lady Gaga – Mayhem Unlike the smooth tech-house flavour of her previous album Chromatica, and quite diametrically opposed to the dinner jazz of her albums with Tony Bennett, on Mayhem, Gaga returned to the operatic electroclash that powered her first two albums. There are synths that sound like a Dyson on its last legs. There are the kind of trashy guitars that contractually can only be played by someone sporting a lime mohawk, low-riding leather trousers and nothing else. There is the baby talk of her biggest hit Bad Romance, only where that was “Ro-ma, ro-ma-ma / Gaga, ooh la la” it’s now “Ama ooh na-na / Abracadabra, mutta ooh Gaga”. Eh, I mean people can experience and explore music however they want, but I guess I just think it’s a little bit funny when people who are, decidedly, a bit unadventurous musically will then go “nO oNe’S eVeR hEaRd oF tHiS!!” as if their frame of reference is the only one. You don’t need an encyclopedic knowledge of music or music history to talk music, but I think a self-aware + realistic appraisal of the scope of your frame of reference would be nice lmao. (Just something I’ve noticed about pop stans specifically, tbh lol)8 points

It would be insanely funny if someone did one of these interviews and just listed ten of their own songs8 points

Global icon Snoop Dogg will take center stage for Snoop's Holiday Halftime Party, the halftime show during Netflix's NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25, live from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Minnesota Vikings will face the Detroit Lions, but all eyes will be on the Doggfather when the clock hits halftime. Snoop Dogg takes the reins at halftime, promising chart-topping tracks, plenty of holiday spirit, and special guests, making for what is sure to be an unforgettable performance. Snoop Dogg said: "NFL, Netflix and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day? We're servin' up music, love and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That's the kind of holiday magic Santa can't fit in a bag." Last year, Netflix kicked off its inaugural Christmas Gameday with international superstar Beyoncé performing at halftime of the Ravens-Texas game6 points

Love Addison but no it's a effortlessly solid pop album which achieves what it wants to. Mayhem, on the other hand, is an artistic triumph.6 points

I’m currently working on a final essay for an English literature course I’m in, and I’m analyzing different common tropes in old writing and where and how they’re used today. One of the tropes I’m focusing on is the “stealth parody” which is the concept of a parody that is sort of secretive about the parody elements, and some people may not immediately identify that it’s a parody (one example I give is Alice in wonderland-while it seems like a lot of random nonsense, many of the characters and scenes are references and parodies of actual historical events going on at the time.) interestingly, I found that tv tropes lists Lady Gaga under singers who use stealth parody, and I’ve decided to explore that for my essay. I argue that Lady Gaga is someone who is so engrained in popular culture that large elements of her career operate under the rules of stealth parody-for example, almost all of her outfits actually have deeper meanings (such as the meat dress and Don’t Say Gay) and many of her sillier or more ridiculous lyrics are also about real or deeper things. These are things that work as well as they do because she has a great understanding of what the world expects pop singers to be, and is able to use that to her advantage and both pay tribute to it and sort of poke fun at it, all when often saying something more. Over the years a lot of critics have written off what she does as nonsense but there’s always something deeper there that they may be missing (just like with Alice in Wonderland) Are there any strong examples you can think of of times where Gaga has prominently used this sort of trope? I’m looking for a couple of examples beyond the meat dress and telephone video. Beyond that, just thought this was something interesting to share lol5 points

As someone who's primarily drawn by strong melodies, and this being the reason why I'm into Gaga, I find it interesting that many of the songs/artists she cites (not just here) are more interesting in terms of style, production etc.5 points

I'm making something that I am really happy with and then seeing if if people want it now or later. Being able to to AB test things music with people. If I like the response, I'll finish it and drop it."4 points

I hate that this is what Taylor has become to the industry, her influence is undeniable to the point that it's forcing them to be biased towards everything she does. I don't get it, but then again she is America's sweetheart and America has been way too influential to pop culture in general for decades.4 points

I know ppl are upset about this but I am SOOOO happy Netflix won instead of Paramount which is owned by a horrible zionist conservative owned family called the Ellisons! They pay the IDF to kill Palestinians and they donated to Trump tons of money! thank God it's not them that won! they literally fired Stephen Colbert for Trump and they also said they will make more conservative tv shows and movies and pro Israel content for Americans to consume4 points

Arenas >>>> Stadiums anyway. There’s more availability with stadiums, sure, but the experience is always better in an arena.3 points

I dunno if its underrated or not but for me this is a bit of an odd one... I would not put it in my top fav Gaga songs. I rarely listen to it these days... Yet its one of the songs i sing randomly the most and gets stuck in my head despite the fact i never listen to it. Ill be walking and randomly be like "a-p-p-l-a-u-s make it real loud, put your hands up make em touch touch", thats the part i always sing randomly in a low voice3 points
