His output through the end of 2025 did more than just reinforce his position as one of the most gifted creatives of his era. Immediately no. I’ve never been the biggest fan of him but got into him when a friend took me to his IGOR release show and it blew my f*cking mind. He’s an immaculate artist and a KILLER performer. He actually reminds me of Gaga in terms of creative direction and control. He’s an extremely passionate artist who’s delved into so many mediums and the fashion world. Before I liked him, I experienced high school with him at the forefront of local music culture and the rise of him and his contemporaries in the local scene and people lining up for hours upon hours to support him. He had a bit of a messy history with his writing and story but at the end of the day - he’s a Los Angeles icon who grinded HARD in pursuit of following his passions without compromise. He’s a tremendous inspiration to a lot of people, especially those of us in Los Angeles who are natives. He comes from a local city within LA county called Hawthorne. He’s a testament of artistic excellence and commitment in a city where transplants try to define the culture. He produced and writes all his music and is a musical savant in many ways. Just cuz you don’t know who he is doesn’t mean he isn’t a true legend who hasn’t put SO much work in. Especially as a queer, Black man.
