I would be so pissed They probably already felt screwed over by the resale price just to have their tickets taken away. Just give them the difference between what they paid and face value as a partial refund and let them keep the tickets.23 points

Off topic but last night I went to a bar with some coworkers and they were doing karaoke night. The average age in the place was prolly around 60 lol most songs being performed were from the 70s-80s. My friends encouraged me to sing a song (I've never done karaoke in public before). And I chose to do Die with a Smile. The second the song started, the bar ROARED, and the vibes changed completely, specially during the chorus. The instant classic that Gaga and Bruno created omg and then today I see the update, the song that keeps on giving Billboard really thought they'll kill the song by making it recurrent, well think again8 points

1 Year ago, while we were all celebrating the success of DWAS, Gaga released Disease, a return to dark pop and the official start of LG7. She showed the world that she can TFM/BTW energy to the next level and create fresh, high quality music in 2024, when the Pop landscape was mainly dominated by cute TikTok friendly pop songs (or even just no pop at all) The Music Video has (only) 47M views, while the Antidote Live and The Poison Live sit at 4M and 2.4M respectively. On Spotify the song has almost 284M streams.7 points

They’re only canceling tickets bought through a reseller like StubHub or seatgeek if they claim the original buyer (scalper) violated their policies. this is a shitty thing to do, it punishes the fans who bought tickets more than the scalpers.6 points

All of this could be solved instantly by allowing refunds but no resales5 points

This is honestly the worst way to go about it lol. You have to get the scalpers *before* they buy the tickets, not after they’ve sold them 🪦 This just resulted in fans getting their tickets voided.5 points

I think I would remove Jeff Koons from her ARTPOP era, and put the Björk as a main inspiration for her visual concept. Like a more organic and surreal vision of art. Like art becoming a more sensory experience, less literal, with textures, dreamlike landscapes, and performance fused with technology. Videos and visual aesthetics are experimental-futuristic rather than kitsch. iconic5 points

agreed. it's like Jennifer Lopez- she might not have the biggest hits anymore, but she's not gonna fade away into complete obscurity omg as I typed this I realized they both judged on American Idol but yeah. she's one of those kinda celebs where their prime is probably behind them but they'll still have a dedicated fanbase who will check out whatever they release next5 points

that's what i'm trying make sense of, cus how is a fan meant to know to difference between scalper and genuine reseller? it really feels like punishing innocent fans who didn't know better and do the scalpers keep the money from that transaction or can it be reversed as a refund? are the scalpers even learning a lesson from this?4 points

Marina I can't imagine removing David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Elton, Queen. Gaga's so 80s icons coded.4 points

I'm not sure The Fame would've existed then, and maybe Gaga wouldn't have even a career without that album, she's too different. She was obsessed with Britney and Paris Hilton's use of fame and lifestyle at the time, not to mention to mention the way the media treated Britney. I believe that Gaga was extremely lucky (like most self-made celebs, there's talent and then there's luck) and The Fame had the perfect concept and sound, all the stars were aligned. It happened right after Britney's public mental breakdown and media/fan obsession with her, which I think helped The Fame being as impactful.4 points

um idk but I think this is absolutely fascinating to think about edit: also, we're def missing Tony on this list but maybe that's good so you tasteless ****ers can leave him be4 points

This honestly would’ve been amazing. My gripe with singers and it’s probably just me, I hate when albums and singles don’t match with the aesthetic. Like when fonts are different, the image isn’t from the album shoot, etc.4 points

This is my SOTY definitely. A song that makes me want end it all and at the same time makes me wanting to be alive to feel. The music, the lyrics, the voice, the production. It has everything I want from music. It's like a dark ABBA song. The lyrics are very ABBA-like, like having that bittersweet feeling of the passage of time and looking back with melancholy is a common theme of their songs. I also can hear the influences she talked about in the song instrumental. idk it's just a perfect song, it always gives me chills like the first time i heard it.3 points

Happy for her! Woman deserves a reset. I feel like she can be a bit tone deaf, not in touch with culture but is well meaning and not evil. Go Katy, you got this!3 points

Yeah, that’s fair. But if we’re talking about whether she’d be where she is now without certain influences, you couldn’t really remove most of the folks mentioned in the OP (Bowie, Queen, Madonna, Prince, Warhol etc), so I interpreted it more as: “whose influence am I the least interested in hearing moving forward?” I don’t hate when she does the y2k pop thing, but it’s probably one of my least favorite sounds from her3 points
