  4. Nine years ago, Gaga released Joanne! One of her most vulnerable and personal works to date, it’s a daring and dazzling record from an artist that refuses to remain in one place. It was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and the song “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?) won Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards. During an interview with Zane Lowe, Gaga talked about Joanne: There's no filter, this record goes right for the gut," Gaga said of the album. "Vocally, lyrically I am trying to tap into the vibrations that make you feel like I'm giving you a giant hug in a way. Or giving you a release, a place for you to rage, or to feel healed, to close your eyes and listen. That's the hard part. Sometimes you don't want to listen to a song that makes you go there. But that's what this record is, this record makes you go there. But it's also, I have to say, one of the most rewarding musical experiences of my life, making Joanne. This is the album that made me become a fan. I still listen to it quite often and every time it feels like I'm meeting a dear friend again

  5. So many of Gaga's idols openly shat all over her at the start. I absolutely love that instead of falling into the same patterns she has always chosen the high ground,. And now that she herself is an established legend, who has inspired a new generation of artists who listened to her music growing up, she has chosen to be a kind and supportive mentor to them. Hearing that she gives people like Billie and Chappel her phone number for if they ever need support, and seeing compilations of todays young artists doting on her, and hearing things like Doechii's speech when she presented her with the innovator award.. warms my heart. She will never be a nasty, bitter, mean woman like Madonna and Grace

  6. I think her comments were hateful and aren’t coming from a place of good faith or discernment as she seemed to be offering them up as.

  21. Even though that year AHS Hotel set wheels in motion, it was Joanne release that made a final LM out of me. Against the community grain, this album will always have a special part in my heart. Calling it country is as reductive as calling Mayhem disco-funk. No matter what visual or sound style she borrows, Gaga always makes it her own. And that's it in the end.

  26. No matter what opinions people have of this album, Joanne will always have a very special place in my heart. I was fortunate to be living in NYC at the time when it came out and I relive that time of my life whenever I listen to the album. We got to hear her voice in a different way than we had before and it was nice to see her make this album for personal reasons and not necessarily for the fans/public. We were just lucky to be there to share it with her ❤️ I also saw her perform Angel Down & Joanne outside the Bitter End which I will forever treasure as one of the best live moments of hers!

  27. Can't blame her. There was a lot of ignorance around the disease then. I sincerely hope nobody tries to use this to smack her down though 'cause she dedicated a whole ass song to a friend that died from AIDS and practically dedicated her career afterwards to being a queer ally and advocate. Also, mostly unrelated, but I will never get over the fact that Michael Jackson beat Tupac up after he disrespected Quincy Jones' daughter dude was mad disrespectful and often full of himself. It's why Biggie ended up getting the collabs.

  30. To be honest we don't really know what Gaga did in the studio for the last couple of years, she confirmed many times she made a LOT in the studio and +50 songs were completed during the MAYHEM sessions. That's literally + 4 album content worthy. If she's happy with the content maybe she has plans for new album ? Wait and see

  31. She said from the beginning it was a mix of genres and it’s how she wanted it. She was going to make the whole album sound like PC and then changed her mind.

  32. For a while, Kevin Parker was sculpting some of the most prismatic yet accessible hits around, searching for that secret place where producers like Phil Spector, Dave Fridmann, and Quincy Jones found the answer to pop. Once as beloved as any other early-’10s indie starlets, Tame Impala have become so synonymous with a particular strain of fancam-ready groove-pop mush that it’s easy to forget why everyone liked him in the first place. But if I may, let me offer that the same quality that launched Parker to ubiquity has always been his greatest strength. Lonely kids who haven’t found their way to Popol Vuh and Soft Machine yet deserve headphone music to bliss out to, too. Though people have been accusing Parker of defaulting to classic rock tropes ever since his heyday, he has never seemed particularly beholden to those constraints. Sure, he loves the Beatles, but he’s equally enraptured by Orbital, Timbaland, Rihanna, and countless other corners of the mainstream music world past 1970. After all, we’re talking about a guy who realized the transportive powers of dance music after hearing “Stayin’ Alive” on shrooms in the back of his friend’s car. Is it Parker’s fault that his snare rolls on Lonerism were too crisp? That his basslines on Currents were too juicy? Now that he’s at the top of the mountain and co-writing Dua Lipa flops, penning songs for Minions sequels, and collecting Grammys for his most generic tracks yet, Deadbeat arrives asking the question: What’s left to do for the psych-rock prodigy turned dance-pop consultant? ...... https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/tame-impala-deadbeat/

  40. I would like to see a rule that requires a song to be released as an official single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, these album bombs must stop. They have their own chart, the streaming songs chart, they can dominate that.

  43. Well let's be real last time she made us wait for 5 years she was very very close retiring from being a pop star and was almost done with doing music again. She's 1928393 miles aways from this now. Let's thank Michael and Chromatica Ball for this tbh
