of course when DWAS seems to survive the showgirl bomb24 points

She said from the beginning it was a mix of genres and it’s how she wanted it. She was going to make the whole album sound like PC and then changed her mind.22 points

They say people there were not able to listen to the song because it was secret.21 points

I guess it can be seen as a low point if we've been on a generational high for an entire year19 points

New album? I think they mean it will be on soundtrack maybe?18 points
-
She’s said she didn’t want to constrain herself to a single genre or sound like she has in the past, but rather follow her musical instincts wherever they lead her. She almost hyperfixated on the sound of Perfect Celebrity and made a grunge album, but she had to resist the impulse. Whether you think that was the right call or not is subjective, but it seems critics really loved the diversity of sound.18 points

Yeah I do love the diversity but imagine a whole album sounding like Disease and Perfect Celebrity16 points

To be honest we don't really know what Gaga did in the studio for the last couple of years, she confirmed many times she made a LOT in the studio and +50 songs were completed during the MAYHEM sessions. That's literally + 4 album content worthy. If she's happy with the content maybe she has plans for new album ? Wait and see13 points

They say on new album AND on soundtrack13 points

Eras/album cycles are just becoming shorter and less eventful nowadays, for all artists. The days of post-album singles, countless interviews, award show appearances, talk show appearances/performances, etc. are sadly over. After mid-2010’s when streaming and social media took over there’s no more need for promotion as extensive as for example Born This Way era where every. single. day. in 2011 there would be something new, be it a new performance, interview, photoshoot or just Gaga serving a look whilst out and about. Nowadays it’s just lead single, second single, album, tour, Grammy’s. Maybe GMA, and a random radio interview here and there if lucky. Some artists barely even release singles and music videos anymore. If anything, Gaga still did a lot more this era than certain other artists though, especially in March around album release time with SNL and all those other interviews, plus TDD. And she’s currently touring, that also explains why the era is not that eventful now.13 points

Agreed, Mayhem is a return to Gaga's full force and potential, but us fans of PC are still waiting for a full immersive Gaga rock album12 points
-
From all the whining, I’d think of some y’all were still being breastfed.12 points
-
The first song she made for the album was VIY, so she was actually already going down a different path. After PC, she thought about making it an electronic/industrial/rock album, and that's when Michael suggested she continue on the path she was originally on.11 points
-
The title implies that you don't think the disco/funk side of the record is as strong, but tbh, I like those tracks a lot more. She said from the beginning that the album was very diverse, sonically speaking. It's kind of a big reason why the album is called "MAYHEM."11 points
-
Girl... Were you even here during Chromatica era? This era has been nothing but eventful.11 points

I’ve been replaying Mayhem and it’s wild how the first four tracks hit so hard then after Perfect Celebrity it turns into this disco-funk universe. It almost feels like two different albums in one. Do you think Gaga did that on purpose or did the direction just shift along the way?9 points
-
I think she is smiling because it confirms any doubt she may have that ARTPOP is an album the fans truly adore, and she must be so happy hearing the loud screams and cheers because she knows we are celebrating her and helping her celebrate herself9 points

taylor just dropped a new album, gaga is on tour why would the news of gaga having a cameo in a movie coming in the middle of 2026 generate any form of hype? lets use common sense now9 points

Good, those recent record breaking after record breaking longevity hits didnt make any sense and it blocks way too many songs from growing8 points

F*cking THIS. Idek why it's an option to snatch up a $300 ticket and immediately sell it for $1,000+. Like, how is that not theft or fraud of some kind? It goes beyond TM needing a tos change, that kind of thing should literally be illegal.8 points

How many interviews has Gaga done these past few months telling us why it's called Mayhem? and it's not just two types of music either, you have your electro songs, a bit of rock, ballads, disco-funk and cute bops7 points

except for Zombieboy there is no disco funk. Shadow of a Man borderline, it's more 80s dance, not funk7 points

It happens every era, but I feel like with MAYHEM specifically, there's been a lot more of these "Are we in a low point?" type of threads, and it's frankly very annoying. Eras naturally have highs and lows. She's not going to be announcing something new, releasing a new music videos or songs, or performing at different TV shows and events every week. Touring, imo, is always a "low" point in terms of any new content because she's busy f*cking touring the album. Also, the conversation of "She should've released 'x' as a single" is always moot imo. In an ideal world, she'd release all the songs as singles and make music videos for every one of them, but that's not realistic. And in MAYHEM's case, I feel like this album has the most number of single-worthy songs on it. If she released VIY as a single, people would've complained it wasn't GOE; if it was GOE, people would've rather had HBDUWM; if it was HBDUWM, people would've wanted SOAM; etc. It's a lose-lose situation with Gaga because one second she'll do something incredible, but then 3 days later people are like "Ok, so what's next??". Just learn to enjoy the things we get instead of constantly craving more.7 points

Obviously DWAS survives the Taylor album bomb only to go recurrent due to a new rule that was pulled out of Billboards ass6 points

Ngl if any of the retro sounds on MAYHEM make you think of Future Nostalgia, your musical frame of reference is insanely limited6 points

She's busy. But before most tours, she makes a backlog of projects that'll come out over the course of the tour. I imagine there's a few undisclosed projects to come.6 points

No shade but Gaga also gave the biggest hit of an overrated pop rnb girl in the last 15 years. But nobody will admit this because of the reputation of the said artist6 points
