  1. The Mayhem Ball kicked off its European leg yesterday with the first of four shows in London, and it has received an universal critical acclaim The Guardian- ★★★★★ "Lady Gaga’s eighth world tour, The Mayhem Ball, does not lack ambition" The Telegraph - ★★★★★ "And there’s always something eye-popping to look at, the entire show having apparently been devised by people who thought the real issue with Gaga’s performances to date is that they were insufficiently camp and OTT" The Times - ★★★★★ "Lady Gaga at the O2 in London — a pop diva redefines the arena gig. The most flamboyant star of modern times kicked off her European tour with a masterclass in camp fantasy" The Independent - ★★★★★ "Pop star’s Mayhem Ball is the concert of the year. No set piece is too elaborate, no framing device too ludicrous, for this show of wall-to-wall bangers that suggests Gaga isn’t ready to give up her pop crown just yet" Evening Standard - ★★★★★ "There are pop stars, there are music artists, and then there are the true auteurs. Lady Gaga is the latter. Put your paws up for the stadium show of the century. If we could give this show six stars we would" Metro - ★★★★★ "Lady Gaga is this generation’s Madonna – the Mayhem Tour proves it. Despite the spectacle, at every single step of the dramatic production, Gaga was letting us know her microphone was switched on. Her vocals were unwavering." Attitude - ★★★★★ "There’s probably no entertainer out there as committed. Vocally, she’s an underrated powerhouse: it was a treat to hear her take on Bruno Mars’s parts on the all-conquering ‘Die with a Smile’, now the third bestselling song of all time, and it was only released last year, and her ever-so-slightly recasted ‘Shallow’, featuring a softer, gentler vocal, which saw her gliding through dry ice on a rowboat: very Phantom of the Opera." The i Paper - ★★★★★ "On the opening night in London, Gaga's Mayhem Ball - a gothic, operatic pop-theatre extravaganza - was proof she's a pop revolutionary. It’s impossible at moments like these to forget that Lady Gaga is one of the greats, a pop revolutionary. The Mayhem Ball is utterly magnificent." Well hello let's celebrate that

  5. Ariana Grande received a direct statement from the White House after the pop singer called out supporters of the Trump administration. On Sunday night, Grande reshared a post to her Instagram that criticized the Trump administration for its ongoing ICE raids and transphobic rhetoric, as well as other threats to democracy. The post was written by activist Matt Bernstein as a “check-in” for Trump supporters. The paragraph concludes with the following question: “It’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all — has your life gotten better?” In a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai responded to Grande directly. The statement utilized Grande’s song titles — including “Save Your Tears,” “Just Like Magic” and “Get Well Soon.” “Save your tears, Ariana. Because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investment,” Desai said. “He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!” Source: https://variety.com/2025/music/news/ariana-grande-white-house-response-trump-administration-1236534327/

  13. I’m feeling like Mayhem is Gaga’s best shot at winning AOTY, possibly ever, and it might be the closest she ever comes to it! Sure, Mayhem doesn’t contain Poker Face or Bad Romance, and it doesn’t have BTW sales. But The Fame lost to Taylor’s Fearless, you could argue that TFM wasn’t a complete “album” and BTW lost to 21 by Adele. Love For Sale was never going to win as a jazz album, and that nomination alone proves how much the Grammys love Gaga. Her prior nominations all had a fairly logical reason for losing the award. This year, her competition is relatively low. There is no Taylor, Adele, Beyoncé or even Billie, Olivia or Harry in her way. There is also no critically acclaimed “cultural-phenomenon” type album in her way like Brat or Future Nostalgia. What are the chances of that? A scenario as low-competition as this year might not ever happen again. Now, let’s talk about the actual album. Yes the singles could have performed better, and VIY and HBDUWM should have been hits, but the quality of the album is impeccable. Mayhem has not aged a day. I feel like the album hits a nice balance of commercially successful + critically acclaimed. It contains one of the biggest songs of all time (DWAS - which already has a Grammy!) as well as one of Gaga’s best songs of all time (Abracadabra). Abracadabra itself is at once nostalgic and forward thinking for Gaga, a mic drop moment. And overall, the album showcases Gaga’s diverse talents from power anthems (VIY) to rock (PC), electro grunge (GOE) and disco, etc. It plays it safe at times (DWAS), but also flexes and gets experimental at other times (Killah), without alienating the listener. It’s not as shocking and as wild as BTW (what many consider her magnum opus), but I also think Mayhem is almost like a more refined and better edited version of that album. It is a love letter to music and to her career. Timing wise, we now see Gaga 17+ years into her career, and highly respected as an artist. Critics are no longer trying to “figure her out” like they were earlier in her career. Her standing as an artist is more secure than it has ever been, something that kind of developed after ASIB and got stronger with Mayhem. People no longer associate Gaga with “being weird” but instead they associate her with TALENT. In terms of Gaga’s future, who knows what it will look like. Will she take a break and start a family? Will her next album be a rock inspired album? Will her relevance slightly decline (which is normal)? Will newer pop stars threaten her status as a pop queen? Whatever the future holds, I feel like MAYHEM will remain one of, if not, her strongest bid for AOTY. LET’S GO GAGA!
