  5. Success is a very complex thing and depending on what you consider successful we will all have different opinions. On its own, TDD is flopping despite what some might wish. No, it won’t rise with Halloween either. Compared to other artists, it’s doing more than fine. Doja flopped, Ed flopped, Cardi flopped, everyone is flopping like their life depends on it. TDD at least had some muscle compared to others If you take into account optics for Mayhem, TDD reactivated the era, gave us a new performance, and promoted the album, which did grow from 6M to a peak of 11M daily (currently 9M). All of this right before Grammy nominations are decided. Strategically it accomplished something great, and honestly? THIS is the real success right here, to get the album’s critical acclaim back and running. So yes, commercially this song flopped a bit, but it’s not without its accomplishments

  18. this site is filled with ‘evil twinks’ and this discussion is evidence enough, a well - known woman in the industry who has been mistreated on multiple occasions during the years is not allowed to MAKE NEW MUSIC, we’re not talking about publishing it and stuff like that, the label is taking the most important thing an artist has from her and y’all are laughing at her and shaming her for it, that’s crazy.

  19. I don't know why I'm shocked that the response in here as fairly jokey and anti-Halsey. I don't really care for her music personally. But if you care about music at all, you should be bothered to hear that a label is actively preventing an artist from being an artist purely because of arbitrary commercial expectations. Halsey's album debuted with more than Ed Sheeran's last three albums, and yet he continues to get unrestricted access to label resources and can make albums whenever he wants. The fact that an artist as established as Halsey has to consistently appeal to the public to even be allowed to make music in the first place should be concerning for anyone, whether you enjoy her music or not.

  28. I loved "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power" and a casual fan of some of her other work. But the entire Great Impersonator era was a chop. She built huge expectations with a title like that, and the weeks leading up to the release she was posting her recreations of iconic photos of musicians like Bowie, Fiona Apple, Cher, Britney, Dolly, etc . Then you listen to the album and it has no influence from those artists and 95% of the songs sound the same? I commend her for turning her pain and experience with chronic illness into art, but this just did not land with majority of listeners and it shows. "Lonely Is The Muse" is the best song from the album, was a single, and sounds nothing like the rest of the songs. In fact, it's vastly different.

  31. • Twenty One Pilots land the year’s biggest week for any rock album — and the largest in six years — as the duo’s new studio effort, Breach, bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated Sept. 27. The set launches with 200,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States, according to Luminate. That marks Twenty One Pilots’ best week ever Of Breach’s 200,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 169,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 31,000 (equaling 40.68 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs — the act’s best streaming week yet; it also debuts at No. 8 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. Breach’s opening-week sales were bolstered by its availability across more than 15 vinyl variants, which sold a combined 72,000. That marks Twenty One Pilots’ best week ever on vinyl and the largest vinyl sales week for a rock album in the modern era (since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991). Breach was also issued on three deluxe CD editions in lavish packaging containing collectible ephemera, a standard widely available CD and digital download, along with a widely available deluxe digital download edition with the bonus track “Drag Path,” alternative cover art and a PDF booklet. • Ed Sheeran scores his eighth top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 as Play starts at No. 5 with 71,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 51,000 (it debuts at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart), SEA units comprise 19,000 (equaling 24.26 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs; it debuts at No. 23 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise 1,000.

  35. I agree with this! I really feel like her mind was the most 'open' back then to all her creative thoughts. She made the most unique connections and interesting ideas during that time. Love her stuff now! But it just hasn't itched that same satisfying part of the brain since BTW. That part that goes 'oh that's an interesting metaphor but I get it'. Like thinking of fully embracing your darkest parts and choosing to celebrate life anyway, and calling it 'marrying the night'. Or writing your own 'live life as if every day was your last' anthem and calling that totally free moment before death, and that feel of ultimate freedom 'the edge of glory'. She was really in genius mode back then!

  37. look i love gaga but shes been doing these kind of tactics since the beginning anyone recall how she puts the fame and TFM together so she can claim its one of the best selling albums of the 2000s/2010s? those should be considered two seperate albums but are often attached together to say she sold 44.0m units, of which 15.7m in pure sales. those albums are seperate bodies of work but are bunched together so she can claim its the most successful debut album of all time. yall really need to stop making excuses. gaga does it, cardi does it. people release 20 versions of the same songs/albums to inflate numbers, people re-record their entire discographies which in turn have doubled overall album sales for that artist.
